In fact, one of the early ideas for Tails in Sonic 2 was: “Eggman kidnaps Tails and Sonic goes to the rescueâ€￾. There even a pic of that, some concept art I can’t give the link because Cult is down(( or at least most of the site is down). I guess the first idea was to make tails a girl but they decided to use the idea of Sonic rescuing a girl in sonic CD instead and make tails a boy and a playable character.

Sonic CD doesn’t have Tails because is was supposed to be released before Sonic 2. But of course, the huge game came last.

Nope, they pulled that shit in Sonic 2 GG which came out before Sonic 2 MD.

Thanks God they didn’t used that idea in the Sonic 2 we all love.

Sonic was created to be popular, maybe they thought that the idea of Hedgehog having a Fox girlfriend was not good. That could explain The whole Sonic/Sally thing, it was originally Tails who was going to be the female Fox but since Sega changed that they had to find a replacement.

If they made Tails a female, I hope they would've at least give him some clothing.
