Old or New?
We're on the new forum and you've had a chance to see it in action.
Do you prefer the user information on the left side of posts (like the old forum), or on the right side (the way it is right now)?
The winning outcome of this poll will be implemented accordingly.

Re: Old or New?
Just out of curiosity: would it be possible to give users the option from their own display settings?

Re: Old or New?
Probably, but that would be way too much effort once I start modifying the theme and forum.

Re: Old or New?
One thing I really like about this current design is that little "online!" diagonal banner by user's information on the side. It makes me think "it's new!" or "as seen on TV!" and I hope we keep it (or something like it).

Re: Old or New?
The problem with putting it on the right is that it separates the user info from the text itself. On the left, I take a look at the text and immediately see who's written it (if they have an avatar, anyway); on the right, I have to look back and forth.

Re: Old or New?
What Sniffy said. I don't think people on message boards even consciously read the names anymore, it's just something the eye catches on its way to the beginning of the post. The whole right side thing was all "avant garde" and "cutting edge" and "Apple store" at first, but practically, it's just not a sound concept.

Re: Old or New?
Do you read from right to left in English? No. So why would anyone want to do it on a forum? And even then you need to switch back after seeing the correct section. It's just a mess.

It's still ugly and different than what everyone is used to. It's like having your penis on your forehead.

Yeah, but it's not very noticeable, and it's much easier to recognize people by their avatar.Isuka wrote:... I definitely don't get what all of you are talking about.
I can see everyone's name right on top of their respective posts, and since I'm reading your posts, I may as well read who is posting, right?

Holy Christ. I totally didn't notice that until you mentioned it.Isuka wrote:... I definitely don't get what all of you are talking about.

Re: Old or New?
I don't like the fact that the so-called post subject is so prominent. Nobody ever actually uses that for replies so you get to see "Re: TOPIC NAME" over and over and over as you scroll down the page.

I used to use those for random song snippets before I realized I was only showcasing how shitty my music taste is.
There are better places to do that.

Also it would be nice if the page links could be returned to next to the topic title, so I don't mistakenly just click on the title as if there were only one page.

It's been two weeks now. Holic must have a lot going on right now if hasn't found time to change the position of the avatars.

Last I saw him, he went into his room with his life-size Pia Carrot dolls. I heard alot of scuffling at first, but it's been silent for the past couple of days and I'm afraid to go in and look.

I feel bad for having voted right, who is the other one who has voted right? xD
In the right it makes the text more important, not the person who posted it, and it gives the forum a different stile
