4chan's the only chan around right now, as long as you're only counting the English chans. 5chan went down due to some reason, and iichan went down and out due to lack of support... or too much bandwidth. Or some other dumb reason.
Given it's the only one, it's not too bad. There are a lot of fucktards on that board, though, and a lot of them seem to have the whole elitist thing going on, whatwith their being '4channers'. A fucking image board is not a community. You are not a '4channer'. You're posting images to jerk off to. That's April, one of the girls in Taisen Hot Gimmick, a strip mahjong game. She's an American model who looks down on Japan, so you have to straighten her elitist white attitude by exposing her assets. She rather seems to enjoy it, though.
The art in the game (and a few other Psikyo games, including non-erotic ones) was done by Jun Tsukasa, a popular erotic artist. Look up some of his stuff, he's a master of his craft.

So far, it has been shut down due to lack of funding or hosting 4 times. The end of the 4th iteration and the beginning of the 5th are documented below.
At its peak, 4chan's reach was well within the 15,000 most popular websites on the internet according to Alexa Internet.
On August 11, 2004, 4chan returned for the fifth time, under new management. The site had previously died on June 20, 2004, after several attacks, lack of funding caused by a PayPal lockout, and lack of motivation from the site founder, moot.
I'm kind of surprised it's come back so many times. People really do need their jerkage material. I guess I can see why, though. 4chan is pretty damn convenient, given that you don't need to sign up through HentaiKey or endure popups.
