In what has to be the strangest use of a mascot, Sonic recently lent his nose to Sega Direct’s Screen Cleaner promotion:

The Screen Cleaner is the most common souvenir used by SoJ to bribe Japanese gamers into pre-ordering the latest releases, and, consisting of a thin plastic sheet with a sponge on one side, it is also the least interesting gift. Sensing consumer apathy to the freebie, Sega Direct produced this page demonstrating the gift in action.

Ogawa Interview

Kikizo recently conducted an interview with Yojiro Ogawa, producer of Sonic Mega Collection Plus and Kimishine. Most of the questions mirror those asked in a previous interview by Nintendo Official Magazine. Ogawa-san does, however, reveal a few new facts.
Firstly, it seems that Naka is still heavily involved at Sonic Team. He frequently suggests ideas for improving titles and was responsible for initially conceiving the candle blowing mini-game in Kimishine. He also provides feedback on the design of logos and game packaging.
Secondly, Sonic Team have no definite plans to continue the UGA franchises they acquired when they merged with the former Sega division last year. However, they may consider creating a sequel to Kimishine if the original sells enough copies.
