Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
Zeta, if you are talking about the annoyance of losing party members because of losing some excellent character-exculsive skills, the DS version of FFIV introduces the Augment system. It is a system in which when a character leaves your party for good, you receive their skill to add on other characters. You can also add 2-3 augments to any non-permanent party memember, and recieve 2-3 of their own special skills when they leave for good. That's probably why this version is significantly tougher than any of the other versions since they partly want you to take advantage of augments. You woulding be able to get them all on your first playthough which is why there is a New Game+ in this version.
However, if you are talking about the annoyance of losing party member because it effects the quality of the story, welp...this is Final Fantasy, dude.

And yet for all that, it's amazing how many stupid death cheats occur in the game (fucking Cid).

Japanese Sonic fans call this game "fan made" that's how bad it is over there.
Now as for Sonic XG, that was a fan game worthy of being real! why oh why was it canceled!?
Sorry, carry on.

But it is a fangame. It's very apparent in its lack of completeness, shallow characters, and presentation skills.

No, it merged with Retro Sonic... and honestly, it seems like Sonic XG is the one that's maintaining most of its identity through the merger (which is a shame, since I liked Retro's more traditional take on a new Sonic title as opposed to XG's "let's see how much we can blow up" take).

Thank you. Ironically, Euan has left the project cause he has no time with which to work on it, but he did complete a fair chunk of the art assets.Shadow Hog wrote:No, it merged with Retro Sonic... and honestly, it seems like Sonic XG is the one that's maintaining most of its identity through the merger (which is a shame, since I liked Retro's more traditional take on a new Sonic title as opposed to XG's "let's see how much we can blow up" take).

So this went from Sonic Cronicles, to how bad new Sonic games are, to make fun of japanese rpg, to Sonic fan games...
For me the best "Sonic fangame" is the "Knuckles in Sonic 1" hack...

Yeah, but Tails in Sonic 1 is lulz.
To think that the fantasies of yesterday can now be made reality by the average Joe is mind blowing.

Well, unless the hack you used has a "Tails that cant fly" clone of the Tails from Sonic 2, Sonic 1 with Tails would be tooooo easyyyy....

Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
The reason they never put Knuckles in Sonic 1 is due to how it shites up the colours so much.

The real reason was that both Sonic 2 and 3 use more frames for the main character sprites that Sonic 1
Edit2: frames? I mean slots for the sprites or something....been doing animates gifs a bit too much...

Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
No, the real real reason is because they would have to redraw dozens of sprites that use Sonic's shades of blue throughout the game, like Kogen said. Sonic 2 didn't have this problem because Sonic could always turn into Super Sonic and fuck shit up, so sprites used other colors on purpose. This is why Eggman's eyes are now black.
Wait, I'm talking to a turtle again.
