It's amusing how much of a differnce in quality the textures for Mario can be between this (plastic-y clothes) and Brawl (denim and stiching galore). I also laughed at the recycled art for Waluigi.

Blaze's track suit looks pretty nifty, though.

I don't think Waluigi warrants new art until he actually appears in a game that's not some sports/party title. Seriously, even Daisy has at least one game on her resume.

Daisy's wearing her Mario Golf attire, while Peach is just wearing a pink version of it.

I don't even think any of those Mario pictures are original renders made for this Olympics game. It'd be nice if Sega was consistent and used the same lighting and render settings for the Mario characters like they did for the Sonic characters, plus some new poses. I mean, they obviously have access to the high-poly models since they're in (what I assume will be) the opening FMV.

Footage of everyone swimming, with Sonic with his lifevest+dog paddle and Vector's crocodile swim.

I'm deeply amused that everyone is swimming while being fully clothed (mainly, Eggman. Then again, I doubt anyone wants to see Eggman in a speedo. Or Wario. Or... pretty much anyone, really).

I have to admit, Sonic wearing a lifevest and doggie paddling to solve the problem of his usual characterization of lack swimming skills is a cute touch.

I always imagined that Sonic would just flail forward like a Chao with low swim stats.

Just watched the entire video proper. There's something really wrong with Knuckles'... uh, knuckles.

And Peach and Daisy may not have armpit hair, but I definitely bet they do have hairy backs.

I'm digging Vector's true-to-the-real-animal swimming motions. It's smacks of a quality higher than what people associate with Sonic games nowadays.

Right! Too bad his looks arent atleast a bit true-to-the-real-animal anymore, his arms are just ridiculous. Good to see him being the active one in this game and not Espio but Im again troubled by the fact that his new VA sounds like Barney Gumble on crack. Meh, Importing time.

I love Sonic trying to keep up with his flotation device! :)

Well, he couldn't really be called "anthropomorphic" if the design team didn't take some liberties with the real animal's look/proportions and whatnot.

That being said, I'm starting to really dig this game--moreso than even before the "Sonic in Brawl" news. My only curiosity is why there's such a large space between the Wii and DS releases...

Probably to help hype the Olympics. Once Mario and Sonic stops being fresh, they can pull out Mario and Sonic... ON DS!

Then when Mario and Sonic on DS gets old... they can pull out the non-mascot Olympics game!

Then a short time later, the actual Olympics begin in Beijing. Except despite their attempts to keep the Olympics fresh in public memory, nobody will actually watch or care... just like 2004. And 2000. And 1996... wait, people actually watched that. But you get my point.

The only reason anyone watched the Athens 2004 Olympics here is that we actually rocked in Basketball. And Soccer, of course :P (which was a relief, because we sucked cock in the 2002 World Cup).

They should just base the game around the London 2012 Olympics. Gor blimey, etc.

Sonic and Mario racing down Big Ben would be worth it.

But that's a creative and imaginative! The Olympic committee would never allow it.

It's like Laff-A-Lympics without the Laff.

Laffs aside, the Laff-A-Lympics didn't make as much of an effort to balance things. The Scooby-Doobies would conviently win every other episode, and only the Really Rottens got busted for cheating.

If Dick Dastardly didn't keep on stopping to set up elaborate traps he'd have won every Wacky Race.

Well that was the point. The SD represented Barbera's "new generation" of cartoons, the ones they wanted to get kids to watch. Yogi's team was old school HB. And while good, it was not supposed to be as good as their "new" stuff.

I hope you realize that Dick Dastardly was not present in Laff-A-Lympics. The character was Red Baron. Everyone on the Really Rottens was an original creation, but quite blatantly based off of already existing characters. Some them were based on characters that weren't even villainous.
