Bad casual games are very, very easy to make. Casual gamers aren't going to complain if there aren't enough good casual games, and hobbyists and hardcore gamers aren't even going to look at them. Therefore.
The dream events would probably be more enticing if they actually took place in either mascot's universe. It sounds like they're just sort of weird in a general sense, but not really based in anything fans would care about.
Two new shots of the DS version. Possible preview of Vector. Looks a bit more like his Chaotix build to me.
I'm not a huge fan of Smash Bros so I'm still looking forward to this. Never excited by it though. Yes it looks like a basic mini game collection, but it does look well presented and so far the previews haven't exactly been damning. It did get a "Wii Game of the Event" award at Leizpig.
Brawl's spoiled me. After Wario's totally swank biker getup, I don't think I could ever accept his original outfit again- it's so piteously bland and devoid of character in comparison. Of course, it was stupid of me to think his new look was official/canon/what have you, but I'm hurt now.
The Miis are ... odd. I was watching that and wondering if the player got to set up the Mii's states themselves (and thus possibly win via setting everything up as high as possible and blah de blah)- but then I noticed at the end that the Miis were named "Shadow" "Peach" "Knuckles" and "Daisy", which suggests that they replace characters in game... So then I'd assume they use that particular character's stats.
I'm not entirely sure where I'm going with this post, really.
Wow. After the Smash revelation, it seems Sega realized nobody gave a crap about the Olympics. So, as a "look, Malibu Stacy with a new hat!" move, they show us... optional Miis.
I'm still waiting on the final word on Miis in SSBB. I think they'd be a great way to have a pseudo create-a-character feature without breaking the Nintendo all-star theme. I'll consider that the last straw for M&S@tOG.
It'd probably work neat if they did them instead of those polygon fighters, since that'd be more fitting to the console. I don't really think anyone wants to make their own fighter though, espically a Mii. They're ugly as fuck.
Yeah, I can stand the Miis in generic games like Wii Sports and Wii Sports Featuring Mario and Sonic, but they'd look horrible next to the Smash Bros characters. Actually, they don't even look very good in Generic Olympics Game.
I'm loathing the lack of texture on Mario and friends. I mean, Mario doesn't even get a jean texture on his overalls. Compare Mario's glove to Sonic's- it looks like they're all made of plastic (except for Bowser, oddly).
