Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was finally released today for Japanese mobile phones.

As reported in June, the game contains all the features of the original 1 player mode. No reasons have been provided for the delay, but it seems a few improvements have been made over the last four months, such as an updated background for the title screen.

An enhanced version has been released for 903i phones, which possess two new modes titled "Eggman battle" and "Special Stage attack"

That title screen is hot. Shame they didn't see fit to update much more than the special stages accordingly (albeit with, say, an "original mode" option for the purists) - that could be pretty astounding, until you realize you paid good money to play the exact same game for the umpteenth time.

Somethings are just too good to play it once.
