That Silver level actually didn't crush my soul. It sort of looked like they cut a couple of times during the Sonic footage when pit deaths might've occurred.

There you have it, the new Buzzbomber. SegaSonic wasn't seeing things. Now let's see if I can track down those hermit crab bots I saw in one magazine scan...

GameFront.de has a good shot of them. They're in the fifth picture down in this set of screens.

So, have multiple destinations in each level been confirmed or what? "Head for a goal ring!" seems to suggest there'll be more than one, but I don't see how the story can flow if each level could end in multiple places.

Unless multiple goal rings would lead to different levels, and the game tasked you with... say...

Let's say you're in Kingdom Valley. An event occurs in... I dunno. "Soggy Jungle". To get to "Soggy Jungle", you have to take an alternate exit through Kingdom Valley, travel across "Greenland Hills", through "Seaside Paradise", until you finally get to "Soggy Jungle".

And you did that by finding and taking alternate exits in each level. Making it kinda-sorta freeroaming, but kinda-sorta not.

Edit: Ugh, Sonic's control looks so shit. It doesn't even really look twitchy like SA2's... it just... it looks like it's 8-directional movement instead of full 360 degree control, at least when Sonic's running (as opposed to walking). Even Sonic 3D Blast gave Sonic a smoother turning radius than this game. And I'd say that's what's to blame with the control issues.

You can see it in this video. Sonic nearly goes flying off the platform right at the start because obviously the dude playing tried to turn and the game went "LOL, 90 DEGREE ANGLE" instead.

I'm really liking the look of Kingdom Valley. It kind of looks like Windy Valley from Sonic Adventure, only a hell of a lot prettier and bigger.

"Head for a goal ring!" could very well just be Engrish, as in "This is not a true ending!"

This isn't too bad actually. Plus the prescence of animal robots get's my vote.

Was it just me or were those pretty much the same things we saw at E3?

That was my impression.

Saz of Sonic CulT already recorded those stages at E3, and apparently did a better job of playing the level too. I'm late to the party with this but whatever.

What are those crates with the flame marker I see in Crisis City? Explosives?

Boxed fire.

FYI, Sonic Cult's route through the Kingdom Valley level is different (and shorter) than the one listed here. I guess that proves the whole "alternate routes" thing.
