Poor character design is what's throwing you?

I was on board with how dumb this whole thing was because I thought the game was aware, too. But all these bland environments give me the impression that they're taking this very seriously and think the talking sword is even cooler than the gun. I'll pass.

Forget about Sonic and the Black Knight, CHECK THIS OUT!

I saw this in the wild today (wal-mart), according to the back of the box you can customize Sonic to moonwalk or yo-yo, among other unnamed things.

In before someone emphatically praises how "retro" the backdrop looks and does a happy dance.

That cover looks like what Sonic 2006 should've been, and it pisses me off.

What, with recycled Yuji Uekawa artwork instead of a 3D render?

But shit, man, you gotta hand it to them for paying such attention to detail. Sure, the engine might suck, but everything else's there.

Mario is Missing
Mario Teaches Typing

...er, dang even Mario doesn't have 3 edutainment titles--unless you count Donkey Kong Jr. Math which is a bit of a stretch.

Mario's Time Machine. There was also a series called Mario's Early Years - all from Software Toolworks.

I just find it amazing that they apparently drew a completely new pose for Sonic (that thumbs-up at the very end). And it looks decent, too.

Man, those things always creep me out with all the mismatched re-used sprites and music from different games. It's like a Frankenstein's monster of audio-visual entertainment.

Like Tails' Skypatrol or Sonic Pocket Adventure?

I'm not sure I even want this for free anymore. It looks even worse than the wiis2 version of Unleashed.

Sonic Pocket Adventure was strangely endearing. Possibly because of the cute little Sonic sprite. You've lost me with Tails' Skypatrol though, what old material did it re-use? It seems fairly obvious that it probably had Tails inserted into it at the last minute, but it was all new material right?

Edutainment games aren't necessarily bad. I have fond memories of Treasure Mountain, Midnight Rescue, Operation Neptune, Super Munchers, and many others. But as fun as this may actually be, it does look like a $30 rom hack.

I had fun with Mario Teaches Typing (or whatever it's called) back on the Apple in my 4th grade classroom.

I don't think it'd be as amazing to me now.

If Math Munchers would still play on my computer, I'd probably be playing it right now.

SEGA of America have put out a new blog entry confirming a few upcoming SEGA games that will be playable at their booth at Comic Con which is going to be held at New York City between Feb 6-8.

Sonic and the Black Knight will be one of those games besides MadWorld, The Conduit, and The House of the Dead: Overkill and the event will be one of the first times the public will have seen the game. Is anyone here going who lives in the U.S. or can afford travel to the U.S.? If so we'd love to hear your thoughts on the game.

At least we'll FINALLY know for sure if the game is on rails like Secret Rings or not. (Last time I checked, nobody really knew for sure...)

I'm assuming, the Shaara look-alike is supposed to be Merlina.
