Wait... Capcom!?

Post by IrkenSnax »

Ok, I'm not sure if anyone else has heard about this, but here it goes.

Yesterday, I was at Target with my family. My uncle spotted the new Sonic X Matchbox car set and bought it for me. Well, I was trapped in our car on a trip for a few hours and, out of bordom, I read the copyright information on the bottom of the box. But I noticed something weird.

Where one would expect to see "Trademarks of SEGA, Sonic Team" or something like that, it said "Trademarks of CAPCOM"

I don't know of any barters between SEGA and Capcom, or any under the table deals with the Sonic X series alone. It could just be a typo made by some moron who works for Matchbox, or... could it be something much more sinister?

Does anyone have more information about this?

There in a 5 car set. Sonic on a sports car, Tails on a VW bug, Chris on a SUV, Knuckles on a truck, and Eggman on a big ass van.

Is it possible there's also a line for some Capcom license and they're doubling up the copyright info on the packaging?

So who's making these? Is it Matchbox, or Hot Wheels? I can't find them on the internets and I want to buy them.

How much did they cost and did Target have any other Sonic related merchandise?

What pisses me off is that all Sonic merchandise now bears the "Sonic X" name and logo. It's like merchandise based on merchandise. I think the only Sonic stuff you can buy now that has plain "Sonic the Hedgehog" on it are those chocolates.

I fucking hate Sonic X.

And speaking of those, I still haven't been able to find them at any store in my area.

I've never seen those chocolates before in my life.

Also, I need those cars.

I wasn't at the register when my uncle bought them. As a rough estimate, I'd say give or take $5. As for other merchandise, there was absolutely none other than the games.

I hate it, too.

It didn't even do well in Japan. Why the Hell are they making 26 more episodes?!

I thought Sonic was always more popular in the west anyway?

Because it did really, really good in the west? Like most things Sonic.

I have to agree with the general opinion of it having a far greater audience in the west. I mean, for its target audience the only prerequisite it needs for it to have a fanbase is a recognisable character and for it to be "xtreme". Sonic fits both.

Really? I kept hearing 4KidsTV's ratings suck. Or have they gotten better since last year?

I've heard that when Sonic X first came out, it was practically 4Kids' highest rating show. However I don't know about its popularity now, as I can't find much about its current ratings. But realistically, it’s only logical to think that if second season is in production, then there must of been enough watcher demand to warrant it.

There's always a large amount of idiots who crave the shows. Because of this the show goes on, ideas are recycled and the quality drops.

It reminds me of Pokemon. I was into the anime during its first arc (based on the Red/Blue/Green/Yellow games), but then there was that Orange Islands and Johto League crap. And I don't even care about the new series anymore.

What started off as good became crap. I was excited by Sonic X until I heard that season 2 would be based off of almost entirely on the Sonic Adventure/Adventure 2/Heroes/Battle games. Season 3 ain't looking much better.

4Kids' block lags behind in the Saturday morning ratings overall. But Sonic X is one of their top rated shows. It's not going anywhere unless the whole 4Kids block disappears.
