I think the artist means well, but this seems more like a mockery than a tribute.

I don't think the Insensible Popeman would approve of the Incredible Popeman.

I wonder if the Incredible Popeman will use thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch as his ultimate weapon. Preferably against the author who though this would be a good, inoffensive way to take the many millions of minds off the Pope's recent passing away.

Which wouldn't be so bad, taking in account the Kyle was just "mediocre", but since that's the worst comic moment I can think of (without taking in account Marvel's "Great Lakes Avenger"). But I wish this bastard comic is just a joke.

Also, I predict that there will be an outcry from the conservative groups in the U.S. in the following weeks before the comic is released preposing a ban on it.

I'm not sure about karate but he was good at football/soccer in his youth. Ngangbius is right though, I can see an outcry going against it.

Why? Seriously, what's the big deal here? He's just some guy. Thousands of people get buried every day and you don't see everyone strutting around saying "Man, they buried some guy I've never met or had anything to do with today-- on my birthday". Just because he (along with millions of other people) was deluded enough to believe he had some kind of connection to a non-existent magical man in the sky doesn't mean it's at all noteworthy, let alone creepy and/or blessed, to hold some tenuous, arbitrary link to one man in particular.

It's because he was a highly-respected figure and it's history taking place; and people like to witness it because it was more of a celebration than a time of mourning. The pope actually said to keep his funeral as simple as possible, but from what I hear, it was anything but simple.

But why would his burial matter? I could see it being a downer if the Pope had actually died on your birthday, but entombment doesn't seem to be anything of major significance. And I can't really see being blessed for it. It had to happen on someone's birthday. Surely many other people had birthdays coinciding with his burial and death.

Oh, come on. Creepy/blessed? It's just an uninteresting coincidence.

I hate it when people refuse to believe in chance. It's like when people say "Why are we on Earth of all places?" when it's really just a coincidence and they'd be asking the same question if they were on another planet anyway. Sorry to go aff on a tangeant but it's just an example.
