Does anyone know of any way to run the PC version of Sonic R in Windows XP? I've seen some documentations on the net that were supposed to tell how to get it to run, but they didn't help nor work.
I was able to get Sonic CD PC to work, but they're obviously alot different. (duh!)

Also, this is probably old news, but is it possible for a Genesis controller to work like a game controller on a PC?

I don't know if anybody's made adapters for Genesis-to-PC. I've seen SNES, PSX, N64, Dreamcast, etc...

And I'm curious about the Sonic R question as well. I kinda want to play that game again.

Works fine for me. I dunno how I got it to work, either.

Try setting it's shortcut icon to Compatibility Mode. You might need a fix from Windows Update.

I'm assuming you can find documents on the net to make your own Mega Drive controller to work on a pc. There might also be websites that sell such products as well. Google: Not just an easy way to get porn.

This is why Windows XP SUCKS!¡!

I used to think that, too. But slowly, one by one, Windows XP has fixed everything I did not like about it -- sometimes without even downloading a Windows Update Compatability Update. It's weird. I'm guessing all these Windows 98 DLLs XP never came with for stuff I needed have been slowly filling themselves in from stuff I'm downloading. (I, for instance, know that my ASPI driver comes from Nero, which seems to work better than any other ASPI driver I've tried. Why Microsoft saw fit to leave this shit out of XP I'll never know)

You see, my problem with it is that it's too user friendly. I mean, just for example, there's no msconfig, and I have trouble getting old programs like Petz to work (not that I play it anymore) even after getting updates and setting the compatibility mode to Win98/ME or Win95. Another thing, youn't take a screenshot of any video anymore, it just turns out blank when you paste it...it's just frustrating. Lastly, I can't swap a hard drive with my HotSwap drive in XP without restarting, whereas in 98 I could swap the drive without having to restart. >_<
I thought I was lucky to get Sonic CD PC to work, but I still can't get it fullscreen.

I have recently come around to liking Windows XP over its predecessors, but only because of the better security features I need at work - XP Pro is on par with Windows 2000, but Home is ridiculously crippled.
I'm really liking Mandrake Linux and the Gnome desktop thee days, too, but Linux doesn't support my networking setup, so I can't totally switch.

I'm on an imac, so nyer.

Point the 1: Sonic R works on my WinXP laptop, but lacks music. This kills it for me.

Point the 2: WinXP Pro works far better than WinXP Home. Naturally, Pro is more expensive.

The Brits seem to have an 'XPlosive' version of Sonic R for the PC that apparently works with XP. I'd suggest looking into that.

Another thing, youn't take a screenshot of any video anymore, it just turns out blank when you paste it...it's just frustrating.

When you play the video on Windows Media Player, go to Tools --> Options. In the Options menu, click on the Performance tab and set the Video Acceleration to None.

Now you can use the print screen to take prefect screenshots and paste them in Paint or whatever without worrying about a blank space.

I actually own that two-pack. Sonic R seems to work depending upon what version of XP you own...

I have that too, as well. I never thought to try that copy of Sonic R instead of my original PC print, so maybe it will work...

Yeah, for some reason, it didn't seem to work on the version of Pro I have on this computer, but worked on the version of Home on my laptop. Go figure.

If you're using Windows, you had better update. You wouldn't be allowed on the road (for long) with a car with no steering wheel, and you shouldn't be allowed on the internet with an unpatched OS. You're endangering your surroundings.
I do computer repair whoring on the side, and 60% of my calls could have been prevented by keeping up-to-date with antivirus and OS updates.

Alot of this stuff is curious. I, for instance, have an msconfig. (I'm using XP Home, an OEM version that came with my Vaio) I do have problems with some old programs from time to time (although anymore it's just old DOS games), but generally, things work alright. As I said, though, they didn't USED to work alright - I had a bit of trouble with XP at first, but now it pretty much works like Windows 98 (except it pretty much never, ever crashes or anything). I even turned the stupid "hay guys we're fancy like MacOS" GUI overlay so it looks just like Windows 98. =P

Also, pasting screenshots is not a Windows XP problem. That sounds more like a video card incompatability of some sort (or perhaps something to do with your color depth settings).

Edit: Or, maybe I'm just an ass, and as I just saw quoted below me, perhaps you were talking about screenshots from actual video and not just screenshots in general (like from PC games).

Ah ha, I have updated my system with most of the newer patches and whatnot. Hasn't helped any, I might add.
