So yeah, I saw Harry Potter today.

I went with a group of friends to see the 3rd Harry Potter today, and I thought it was quite good. It followed the story of the third book closely enough, and since that was my favorite I was already looking forward to seeing it (although, admittedly, I haven't read the 4th or 5th book yet).

One thing that I thought was done much better this time (aside from the direction and the acting) was the CG. The Hippogrif, for instance, looked really awesome. And the time travel was handled well.

And now for the part that will do away with the rest of my credibility (although I expect some long-time GHZer, possibly Del, will retort with "Since when did anyone at the GHZ have any credibility?"): Hermione is hot. Well, maybe not hot, but really cute at least. My prediction though, is that in 4 years or so, when shes, ya know, legal, she will be smokin'. Maybe it's the accent.

Anyways, it was enjoyable. Much more so than the previous films.

I got super confused during that one "reunion" at the Shriek Shack, since all this talking was going on and you didn't have time to make any sense of it. But I found it to be a pretty enjoyable movie nonetheless.

Anyway, I always found people with English accents easier to pay attention to. At least, that's how it's been every time I had a teacher that had an English accent.

I don't really like British accents. Those darn snobs.

Yeah, one of my complaints is that they didn't really explain how they all used to be friends, as well as the whole "Snape doesn't like Harry because he was saved by his father" bit. And the people I was with who hadn't read the book had no idea what was going on.

The problem with the movies is that they take about 1/6th of the books and expect people who haven't read them to have any idea what's going on.

And the chick who plays Hermione is pretty hot.

I concur, again.

In the book and the movie, they make a big deal about how Sirius was the only person to escape from azkaban. But in the movie, they didn't tell how he escaped. And Hermione isn't hot per say, so much as "on the verge". If a few years she may be. But she's not bad looking  And the very end where it shows a close up on Harry's face on his Firebolt scared the crap out of me because he looked so stupid. But it was still my favorite.

I never would've thought that GHZers would like anything even remotely similar to Harry Potter, much less liking the actual thing.

Naw man, I'm down.

With Harry Potter, that is. But especially Emma Watson.

I really want to see this movie, but I'm having an incredibly hard time finding someone to go with. Everyone I know is either going this weekend with someone else or wouldn't be caught dead watching it. I may cave and go see it myself in a few weeks if I get desperate.

I'm really looking forward to this one, though, despite the backstory being completely skimmed over when it would've required only a few minutes of explaining. I've only seen the second one once, and it's cheap now, so perhaps I should go and buy it.

There isn't, like a GHZ hive mind; we all like different sorts of things. Gibbon even keeps hinting that he has a social life now, but I don't believe him.

Why do you need someone to go with? It's not like you talk to them during the movie.

Isn't the girl who plays Hermione, like, 12 years old?

Nah, I think she is like 15 now. Of course aren't most of you guys in your 20's? I'm only 17 and I think it would be weird if I dated a 15 year old.

Hey, I didn't say I wanted to date her, I just said she was hot.

I think the actors are a year older than the characters they portray.

And the movie's trying to condense 500+ pages of story into three hours or less. Give it SOME credit.

Now, how will they handle the whole second trial in Goblet of Fire? Or will it be skimmed since it may end up costing too much to film...?

GoF has the highest proposed budget of any film ever made.

They should've just animated the whole thing. Less expensive, better looking.

I just found out that Emma Watson, who plays Hermione, just turned 14 this past April.

...That scares me. No way I ever would've guessed she was that young.

Oh, and proof: ht ... 914612/

I just turned 18 like a month ago. And I've always thought she was hot. It isn't a new development.

Hey, I never said I thought she was hot. I was just confirming her extreme young age.

That really is disturbing. And I say that as the GHZ's official pedophile.
