I knew I bought that surround sound system for a reason.

Anime News Network.

Anyway, I'm glad they're keeping this on six discs, too, unlike certain rereleases that tried to stretch the disc count out with their own stupid extras.

Is there any reason to buy my way through Bebop again if I don't own a high-end system? And what of Faye? I want some nekkid boobies. Even the movie was just a wretched tease in that respect.

Also, not to change the subject from the Bop, but have you been keeping up with Ikkoku? We're up to volume 9 now, where they introduce this great new character named Ibuki. Without spoiling anything, she's like a younger, much more aggressive Kozue. Memorable hijinks ensue.

I'm getting through 8 right now, I'll have 9 next week. Great as always, but I wish I had more time to actually just sit down and chug through an entire volume at a time. Have you preordered the fifth DVD set yet? I'll probably order them all once I have enough cash.

Do you have, or do you ever plan to get, a 5.1 surround sound system? If so, the new Bebop release is probably worth it. And as much as I wish digitally enchanced meant "digitally inserted nekkid boobies" like they seem to do with all of the newer shows when they come to DVD in Japan (although I suspect that the only reason they remove nipples from the TV broadcast is to make sure you buy the DVDs, not because they have to), the funky soundtrack in DTS will have to do.

Oh yeah, did you look into Paranoia Agent or Samurai Champloo yet? And did Spam ever pick up the FMA DVD?

EDIT: My 200th post had, more or less, to do with nekkid boobies. I can live with that.

Wow, they really do that? I thought I was just kidding. (Though I would very much like to behold Faye's bounty.) What a swell development this is.

What do you think about Nikaido? I honestly felt he was a bit redundant... he's basically Godai if Godai wasn't the straight man. After his debut he fades into the background in short order... he only appears once or twice in volume 9, which is about the extent of his presence for the rest of the series.

When I first saw this topic's title I thought it was some communist propaganda.

I got a 500 Watt JVC 5.1 Surround Sound system, and have never seen an episode of Bebop. Sell the series to me.

Now here's a piece of mocking that has a good view of Faye's (she's the Valentine one, right?) boobs (and a suggestive rape scene, for those who like this stuff). Warning: you (not you, GG) will most likely be offended by that.

And NT, I already know your opinion about this comic, so, unless necessary, you don't need to bother saying it's crap.

I haven't heard of all the shows he's having a go at, but I don't see what's so bad about Gundam or Transformers. I mean, big robots fighting other big robots, what's not to like?

Tell me the premise, damnit. I know I could look it up, but I want a GHZers impression of the series, particularly Peps, since he seems the most knowledgeable in regards to it. Although, anyone else with some base knowledge is welcome to give me their synopsis.

Three down-on-their-luck bounty hunters, a child prodigy and a dog continuously try to scrape together enough money to buy lunch, with hilarious results.

Obviously that's the abridged version. There's a fair share of kung-fu action, suspense, romance, comedy and intrigue, so there's something for everyone, really. There's dark secrets and unanswered questions aplenty, and the series darts from light-hearted endeavours to life and death situations and grave battles between bitter enemies. Top quality animation, competent scriptwriting, a decent dubbing track, excellent music, perfectly paced editing and inspired direction make for a modern classic a hundred thousand miles away from any of the countless Yu-Gi-Ohs and Pokémons of the world.

Thank you kindly. That was very informative and appreciated.

I despise all current lame Yu-Gi-Ohs and Pokémons, particularly BeyBlade. It's a couple of spin tops duking it out in a bowl. What. The Fuck?

Ever heard of Fighting Foodons (it's Japanese name is Bistro Recipe or something with the word, "Bistro" in it)? People fight with foods...as in the foods walk and talk and repeat their own names Pokemon style. Nothings more bizzare (and funny) then fried rice in a gi.
I did find some of the outfits and character designs to be pretty good though.
I got nothing against Pokemon (well, at least the first two seasons of it, Johto sucks), or YuGiOh (I've gotten to the point where I respect cards as a form of weaponry).

Cowboy Bebop, in my opinion, is hilariously overated to the point of insanity.

I mean, it's good, alright, but those people claiming that it's the best action TV series of all time? Well, don't get your gush all over me, is all I'm saying.

Well, you can't possibly deny that it has the best soundtrack ever.
Knuckles Dawson wrote:No, although I could set it to record on my PVR.
You should. They're airing a recap episode next week, and then the shit really hits the fan after that. It airs pretty much uncut too, unlike the US version that edits out all implications of sex and digitally changes guns into disco lasers.

Because just the sight of a gun in a cartoon might make someone go out and shoot up a school.

For some reason displaying "real" guns on cartoons, you know, the ones that use a chemical explosion to throw a chunk of metal into a guy, are too violent, but simply using a laser to superheat their flesh and literally boil them alive is more accepted.
