How many Sonic games have you played?

Post by Frieza2000 »

I would've posted this as a poll. Yes I would.

How many of the Sonic games listed below have you played? As far as I'm aware, this is every Sonic game excluding betas, hacks, and straight ports.

Genesis
-------
x Sonic the Hedgehog
x Sonic the Hedgehog 2
x Sonic Spinball
x Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
x Sonic the Hedgehog 3
x Sonic and Knuckles
x Sonic 3D Blast
x Sonic Wacky Worlds

Saturn
------
x Sonic Jam
x Sonic R
x Sonic 3D Blast(enhanced)

GameGear
--------
x Sonic the Hedgehog
x Sonic the Hedgehog 2
x Sonic Chaos
x Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble
x Sonic Drift Racing
x Sonic Drift 2
x Sonic Spinball
x Sonic Labyrinth
x Sonic Blast/G Sonic
x Tails's Adventure
x Tails's Sky Patrol
x Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine

Arcade
------
Sonic Arcade
x Sonic the Fighters/Championship
Waku Waku Sonic Patrol Car (ac)
Sega Sonic Cosmo Fighter Galaxy Patrol

Sega CD
-------
x Sonic CD

Pico
----
x Sonic the Hedgehog's Game World
x Tails and the Music Maker

NeoGeo
------
x Sonic Pocket Adventure

GBA
---
x Sonic Advance
x Sonic Advance 2
x Sonic Advance 3
x Sonic Pinball Party
x Sonic Battle

Dreamcast
---------
x SA1
x SA2
x Sonic Shuffle

Gamecube
--------
x SA:DX
x SA2:B
x Sonic Heroes

PC
--
x Sonic's Schoolhouse
x Sonic R (yes, it's different from the saturn version)
x Sonic 3D Blast (yes, it's different from the saturn version)

Other
---
x Knuckles Chaotix
x Sonic Eraser

Tiger Handheld
--------------
x Sonic the Hedgehog
x Sonic the Hedgehog 2
x Sonic the Hedgehog 3
x Sonic Spinball
x Sonic R
x Sonic 3D Blast
x Amazing Sonic
x Sonic Keychain game
x Sonic Jam Game.com
x McDonalds handhelds (all 6)
x Asian McDonalds handhelds (all 6)
x Even MORE McDonalds handhelds, America 2004 (all 8)
x Sonic Watch game
x Sonic Underground
Sonic Adventure
Japanese arcade prize LCD games

I didn't include the PC ports because:
-Sonic 2 is the same except for a slight variation in sound effects and music, and a few glitches.
-Sonic CD is the same except for the menu, lesser quality animation, it only plays one music track per level, slightly different sounds, Sonic has different voice when he leaves after 3 minutes, Amy makes a sound in Stardust act3, and "You are greatest player" always comes up on the good ending.
-Sonic 3&K is the same except for the music (some completely different), and the timing of ending music is off.

I didn't include Sega Superstars, Christmas Nights, or Sonic Cafe because those aren't Sonic games. Really, there comes a point where you have to draw a line between Sonic games and games with Sonic's face on them. And yet I did include Wackey Worlds, but that's a rom and you have no excuse for not downloading it, looking at it, and claiming you've played it. Same for Mean Bean Machine.

I included the Tiger handhelds because few people even know they exist. I'm curious as to what ones you guys have.

My count is 58, which is probably more than Naka. The ones with x's next to them are the one's I've beaten. I've played Sonic Arcade, but haven't beaten it because it's not fully emulated yet.

I've played most of those but only for a few minutes. The only ones I took seriously were "the Hedghog" series, "Adventure" series and CD.

I've played all the Genesis/Mega Drive games, plus the Adventures, Sonic Shuffle, Sonic CD (bought it 3 times at one point in my life), the underrated Sonic Heroes (*cue laughter from 90% of the forum members*), all the Game Gear games, and all the Game Boy Advance games except Sonic Pinball Party. I never played the arcade, Saturn or PC games.

What about those old Sonic Pocket things that were sorta like Tiger games. I had one of those for awhile, it was retarded.

The only ones I cared about playing is Sonic 1-3/Sonic and Knuckles and the first Sonic Adventure. Anything else was either crap or I haven't played yet.

Couldn't that be said about anything you haven't played?

...that's weird. Really, really weird. I must've slipped with the cursor one day and deleted it from my list. Ok then, I've played 59.

Well since this topic is up anyway, I'll just add my list of Sonic games I've played.

Megadrive
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic Spinball
Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
Sonic the Hedgehog 3
Sonic and Knuckles
Sonic Eraser (emulated on PC)

32x
Knuckles Chaotix (emulated on PC, because there's no way in hell I'm paying $2 for a crap add-on to play a crap game).

Master System
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic the Hedgehog 2

GBA
Sonic Advance 2
Sonic Advance 3

Saturn
Sonic Jam

Dreamcast
SA1
SA2

Gamecube
SA2:B

PC
Sonic CD
Sonic R
Sonic 3D Blast
Sonic Heroes

Arcade
Sonic the Fighters (emulated on PC)
SegaSonic Arcade Game (emulated on PC)

Tiger Handheld
Sonic The Hedgehog Spinball

In my eyes, the cream of the crop was what Neo Yi and chriscaffee more or less said, Sonic 1-3&K, CD, and the Sonic Adventure series. I shall eventually will myself to play the good GG Sonic games, Pocket Adventure, Battle and Shuffle (I really must see for myself if it is as bad as everybody says, but considering its Mario Party roots, I'm inclined to agree it is).

Really, for a topic like this, being the forum it is, I'd say it's faster to list which games we haven't played.

For me, that would be Sonic Patrol Car and whatever that off-shoot was (Cosmic whatever? It was like Patrol Car, I thought). 'Sides those two very rare arcade games, I've played every Sonic game I consciously know about.

Unless you count, like, those obscure UFO Catcher/Pachinko/Whatever machines.

Yeah, about a year and a half ago I decided to play every Sonic game ever, and since there's more than I can remember I wrote them in a notepad to make sure I didn't miss any.

Some of both. If a rom existed, I got it. But for the obscure things like Pico, Tiger game.com, PC games, and Saturn (which has no decent emulator yet), I turned to ebay. I own all the genesis games except wacky worlds and compilation, and a few gamegear games.

I died inside because you couldn't have Sonic in your Wacky World. Not because I didn't enjoy it.

I thought I was the only one who actually played that. And yes I have to agree, as it was unarguably the only Sonic fangame I've played that has stellular and interesting level designs, and a physics engine that adequately resembled those of the real games. The majority of other Sonic fangames either fault in one or the other.

I had a ton of fun with Wacky Worlds. I still have the game and mouse with mousepad. My sister still wants to play it everytime I hook up my Genesis for something.
