I'm not sure how many people know about this, but it's new to me and it's not in the museum.

Looks like one of those rip-off games where you stick in a coin and get so many points depending where you roll it. Something about a redemtion coin game. So, anyone ever played this?

I've played one. You get tickets if you hit the right things. It plays some Sonic-ish music rather loudly. It was in St. Peters, MO two years ago, no idea if it's still there or not. It wasn't too great, but for $200 it would be kind of cool to have if you had the space.

I think the year on it was 1991, for the record.

Oh yea, they have those in Picadilly Circus, London. Basicly you have to roll a coin, and depending on when the lights by the sides reach the coin, you get so many tickets.

They have one of those at the Chuck E. Cheese rip-off arcade thing in my town. It kind of sucks, actually (the game, that is).

It always made me mad that they made his arms blue.

That has been in our Peter Pippers for years now. I love that stupid game. There was actually a time we had two here in Laredo, but then Discovery Zone closed.. so now we just have one.

You guys had a Discovery Zone?

Oh, man! I absolutely loved that place as a kid. It was, seriously, the birthday spot for little kids at the time.

Yes, I loved that place as well. To bad they closed it after about two years. : /

I remember Discovery Zone, it was pretty badass. Then again so was our local Chuck E Cheeses. We got an assload of tokens for mediocre grades.

I always got lost in DZ. The party would be going on, yet I'd be lost somewhere in the tunnels, kids would be fighting over my presents, yet I'd be swimming in the ball pit...
Frankly, I loved that place to pieces.

There was something like that at a local arcade (Sonic-themed ticket game), except it was one of those "launch the coin into a hole" games.

The DZ that was around here had angry staff members, so I didn't really like it. And I always hated Chuck E. Cheeses, I know a guy who worked there and told me that once while some people were making a pizza, they dropped a whole slice of pizza on the ground (face down), and just put it back on the plate. Besides, I was more of a Celebration Station guy, if you know what that is.

Are any of those types of places still around? I think they're becoming less popular, or something. Or maybe I'm just old now and I don't ever hear about them. I know the Pandemonium in downtown Austin closed years ago.

Chuck E. Cheese's is still in business, Celebration Station still looks like it's operating, and as stated before, DZ doesn't exist anymore.

I remember those. And I remember that Sonic game. Here in Dallas we used to have a semidecent arcade downtown in the West End. It had a couple of those Sonic coin games, as well as a SEGA racing game with Sonic emblazoned on the side of all the 'cars'. It died last summer. DZ was the greatest. I always played on that zip line thingy and then fell into the sea of foam blocks below. Good times.

Discovery Zone is gone? Aw, man. ;_; I loved that place as a kid.

I nearly died in a Discovery Zone once. I still love it, though.

See, there was this one ball crawl where there was this big foam pyramid with ropes attatched from the floor to the top of the pyramid. The objective was to shimmy up the rope to the top of the pyramid.

I fell backwards onto my ass, and my leg ended up being tangled up in the rope so that I couldn't sit up or even move.

Kids were jumping on me and climbing over me.

Eventually my dad fished me out. One of the few decent things he's ever done for me.

I remember one birthday there I had these really cool cakes. They were cut into semi-circles and stood flat side down so that they looked like a dinosaur's hump. Then they were decorated with scales and spots - and some frosting made a cute long-neck and head, and a tail in the back.

I had two - one purple and one teal.

Man those things ROCKED.
