A similarity between Sonic Advance 3 and Mega Man X?

Ok, is it just me or does the final boss of Sonic Advance 3 (not the extra boss, just the normal final boss) bear a striking similarity to Velguarder Sigma, the final boss of Mega Man X, both in appearance and in what you have to do to damage them (mainly the jumping on the hands part). Here are pics of them for a comparison.

While we're on this subject, don't Metal Overlord from Sonic Heroes and Dark Falz from the very first Phantasy Star game look alike as well? Here's a pic of Dark Falz from the original game's ending:

You can also find a nice animated sprite of Dark Falz at the site Phantasy Star Cave. I don't have pic of Metal Overlord, unfortunately, so if someone wants to post one for a comparison, go ahead.

Interesting... I smell a conspiracy.

I don't. The designs for Sigma and the final boss of SA3 are very different - the only thing they share in common is "really big robot with floaty hands".

I'm gonna have to say the same for Dark Falz. If it was a reference of any kind, they would've made it more obvious.

Sonic's always been similar to Mega Man. Small blue guy fights robot-obsessed evil genius who is bald and has a big mustache.

Hah. I guess if you look at it that way, they are pretty similar.

Not to say anything for the huge differences in gameplay.

There was also the mysterious red guy that popped up.

Well, they were mysterious when they first popped up anyway. As in, you don't know much about them, or something. And they both started out on the evil/questionable side. And they both came in the third iteration of the series.

Not like anyone cares, but hey.
