Sonic CD Music
Just a couple of stuff you may or may not wish to add to the museum that I noticed weren't in the Sonic CD page regarding the different versions of music:
-The past songs the same for both versions of the soundtrack.
-When you race Metal Sonic in the original, the music playing is that of Stardust Speedway's bad future regardless of what time zone your are in, while in the Spencer Nilsen version, the music depends on whether Stardust Speedway's time (good or bad future).
-There is a final boss song in the original but it's just a run of the mill tune in the Spencer Nilsen version.
-I'm not too sure about this one, but in the original version, when you go to D.A Garden there is a song called "The Little Planet" I don't think this is in the NTSC and PC versions but I'd have to check.
-The original D.A Garden has no past tunes (which explains why there is no past artwork of the Little Planet) in the original, but does have in the Spencer Nilsen version.
They aren't really all that important, but since you included animals that could be found on certain zones I thought you may want to hear.

Yeah, most of the Sonic CD songs are just regular audio tracks on the CD, but the past songs are not. I guess they didn't have room to fit all the music in that format.
That's also probably why the US version still has the original Japanese past music... replacing music embedded into the game track wouldn't be quite as straight forward as it would have been to replace the music stored on seperate CD audio tracks.

I thought it was because they wanted to keep a theme going with the Past stages using "past" technology (MD's FM synth chip) to generate the music?Esrever wrote:Yeah, most of the Sonic CD songs are just regular audio tracks on the CD, but the past songs are not. Doesn't the PC version have every track in CD audio and still fit?

What the? Do you seriously believe that?I thought it was because they wanted to keep a theme going with the Past stages using "past" technology (MD's FM synth chip) to generate the music?
If that were the case, the present stages would've played like a 16-bit videogame, the Future stages would've been in 128 bits, and the past stages would've been a maze printed on paper along with a pen.
