Online import stores (with rare collectibles)

I've been looking around on eBay for rare collectible videogame stuffs for several months, checking out prices and crap, and from what I've seen, several sellers seem to have a near-limitless supply of "rare" and "exclusive promotional" items at hand. One person, shipping from North Carolina, had sold around dozen of some rare Japanese MGS3 promo disc for ~$50 each. That's a more recent item, but I've seen plenty of similar cases for much older collectibles. These guys have to have some kind of source, unless they bought a bunch of copies of the things years ago and just now started selling them...

So, I'm wondering if anybody knows some place that sells that kind of stuff... not just regular, popular, import collectible items, but RARE collectible items. Pre-order promotions, PR items, etc - other than eBay. Lik-sang only has popular current stuff, and whatever.

Alot of people who sell that sort of thing work in stores that carry such merchandise, especially if you're talking about promotional materials. It's usually grounds for termination if they get discovered. I remember hearing about a few such cases when I was back at GameStop, especially at the PS2 launch.

Pretty much what Gibbon said. I bought my SH4 America-only album from a guy who worked in a gaming store (didn't say which one) and had snatched up the ones that hadn't gone out to pre-orders.

When I was a little child, one of the things I really wanted more than anything was a promotional Kirby plush pillow that hung from the ceiling over the games section of K-mart.

I was never able to get it! *sniff*

I wanted the 6 foot tall Sonic and Mario figures in the video game section of Best Buy. I haven't been to that Best Buy in several years since I moved across the country, but I have heard they aren't there anymore. They'd look badass in my dorm. I wonder what they did with them.

If we're talking about collectibles we missed...

I'd have liked the Sonic Championship cabinet there was over here at a local arcade. Except they closed down sometime between two of my visits to the mall (a span of 3-4 months), and I've never seen it since.
