Tails would win! I me, come on. We all know from Sonic 3 that they have exactly the same abilities, save one. Tails can fly! What's Sonic going to do, insta-sheild him to death?

If we're going by Sonic 2, then we know that Tails would easily win. Sonic dies if hes ever hit while carrying no rings, but Tails can withstand damage forever.

...or that Tails wasn't the controlled character and having him die would make you lose the game and that's annoying enough in games which DON'T revolve around speed.
