Nostalgia Hunt: Psychic Force 2012

Post by Baba O'Reily »

Seeing as I procured a copy of the NiGHTS into Dreams soundtrack (We wrestled to the death. I told him the girl he liked was a tranny, his soul was broken [Especially considering it was true. Long story.], I won with ease.), the next logical step is to find one of the first games I played on the Dreamcast. Mediocre as it was, I enjoyed it. The only problem: I don't have an eBay account, and local places here are notorious about not having what I'm looking for.
I'm off to find this game, by any means necessary.

Was that the RPG that featured a little kid with psyonic powers that had been experimented on? And he injected himself with drugs to inhance his psionic powers so that he could escape from a research lab?

If it's not, does anyone remember which game THAT was?

It was a crappy fighting game with a distinct lack of a ground on which to walk. And I have it. You played as 'psykikkers' or 'anti-psykikkers', which were really the same thing, but it gave a 'reason' to fight eachother. It was like a bad Dragon Ball Z fighting game, with 'unique' powers for each character, like fire, ice, swords. It's not nearly as good as it sounds. And that's saying something. And Zeta, I believe you're talking about Galerians.

I believe you're thinking of Galerians (PSX).

The cube was hardcore.

And that wasn't even the best part.
You could strategically set up Prisms!

Ah, thank you. I distinctly remember the game because when I was 16, the idea of being able to stare at the ass of a slim, slightly feminine, half-naked guy in a collar greatly appealed to me as a fantastic gameplay innovation.

And the fact that Google found Galerians yaoi doujin on only like the first 14 standard websites for the game seems to indicate I was not the only one who appreciated this advancement in the intractive entertainment industroy.

I remember the game too, but for entirely different reasons.

In my defense, my hormones were so out of control at 16, that I really did not take notice of anything that wasn't linked to sex in some way. ;)

It's nice to hear that both straight and gay feel the same way during those awkward years 'twixt twelve and twenty.

You can add at least three years to that domain.

It's possible. It did have you shooting up drugs to increase your stats. I now find myself wondering why I didn't buy this game.

It isn't as if we don't have the time. Do tell.

Speaking of transvestites, my next door neighbors used to keep one as a pet.

I'm not even really joking, either; it was one of their friends or something and he lived in a small trailer in their back yard. Occasionally, he would mow their lawn in a dress. 'Twas quite amusing, as you might imagine.

Sort of. I guess you could call it a survival horror game. It had a lot of action/adventure elements, certainly nothing like Final Fantasy.

Childhood friend of mine had identity issues (I.E., was raised thinking he was a girl. Think The Who's Quadrophenia in reverse). About four years ago, he finally accepts that he's a guy... and then goes and gets an operation.
His/her/its parents do s/h/it a favor by re-enrolling s/h/it in another school. We still kept in touch, though things were... awkward.
Fast forward to present day. Rat bastard who happens to have $5 when I don't buys the NiGHTS into Dreams soundtrack. I also find out he's going to give it to a 'girl' he likes.
My life is like a horrid sitcom.

That's like a fucking Seinfield plot.

And ironically, there's a fair bit of transgenderism in NiGHTs seeing as how NiGHTs changes gender depending on who combines with him/her/it.

...I didn't notice that before...
And my friend has decided to become celibate to avoid mishaps such as these.
'Cherries for bananas' comes to mind.

Kinda like Ernest Hemmingway. See if that fact cheers s/h/it up. Of course he did kill himself, so forget all that. And I thought that the Elliot and Claris went gender neutral when they combined, not the vice versa.

What was the game featuring the break-dancing grasshopper and his butterfly girlfriend? I believe it was for SegaCD and GameGear . . .
