Rez
So I got a US copy of Rez for the PS2. No, I'm not going to say how much I paid for it. The important thing is that I now own a copy, as long as a copy of Space Channel 5 Special Edition.
Now for the question: Do any trance vibrators work on US PS2s? I'm slightly interested in getting one, just so I can get the "whole" Rez experience (as if a huge TV and great surround sound system wasn't enough). I see import ones going on eBay for about $20 - $30, but they all say they won't work on US PlayStation2s. So was there ever a version that did work with US systems, or not?

I hope it wasn't too much, as it's being rereleased soon.So I got a US copy of Rez for the PS2. No, I'm not going to say how much I paid for it.
I remember reading in some magazine that PSX pads are a bit fussy with foreign PSX consoles, although I've never tested it.I didn't even think it was possible to region encode a peripheral?

I may just get this soon, as it's less than £40 on amazon (which is cheap considering all the hype of it being really rare). What's better, this or Skies of Arcadia Legends? I think I'll get one of them with my Birthday/ Christmas money.
EDIT: I found a trance vibrator (JAP) on Ebay UK that says it works with USA and UK versions if that's any help holic. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 81501&rd=1

Yeah, but did you get away with that? Did they take you seriously? I kept trying to get my English tutor to invest in a PS2 last year just so I could loan him Ico, since we had pretty much identical taste on books and films and I thought he'd enjoy it if it he just tried. I kept trying to tell him that-- seriously-- games aren't just Tomb Raider, but he didn't buy it. Now I want him to play Half-Life 2, just because, as I keep banging on about, it's such a significant milestone in narrative in games, and I just know he'd totally dig that kind of stuff. I really don't think there's any hope for games in terms of wide acceptance in the Arts.Skies is wonderful and beefier if you're after an adventure game, but Rez is more important. It was the first game I've ever been able to recommend as research material in a class critique, just the other day.

I'll probably get both Skies and Rez as they both look great. Although I'm edging towards Skies since I need more, and better GCN games, I mean what in hell's name possesed me to buy shit like Mario Party 4 and Starfox Adventures? By the way, what exactly does the trance vibrator do? (and don't tell me it vibrates).

Well, it was in the animation class, where it's generally accepted that at least a few of us will end up in the videogame industry anyway, so yeah. My suggestion was backed up by one other girl, who I used to work with at GameStop. Yeon (the head of the department) even wanted me to bring a PS2 and the game to school so she could see it.Yeah, but did you get away with that? Did they take you seriously?
When we had the actual 409/410 class critique, which encompasses all the concentrations, I chickened out and decided not to bring it up. The instructor for that class is super cool, but he's deeply traditionalist. He usually struggles for comments during animation critiques because he doesn't really know what to look for in it.
I think Esrever's right, it's just a generation gap. It took photography decades upon decades to gain respect as a genuine art form. Another major problem, though, is the mainstream's total domination of the medium. In other mediums you always have experimental and independent markets, but that's something that the game industry still lacks. It really is early, though, even cinema didn't evolve to the point of sprouting an independent market until the 40's.
Well, that... is what it does. You're meant to strap it to your wrist or something.(and don't tell me it vibrates)
