"Now, on the week's Top Ten!"

It is fact that many recent Sonic games have fantastic soundtracks
(and by "recent" I mean SA, SA2 and SH). Now, what I'm trying to figure out is: wich of the over 15 songs could be played on the radio/MTV/whatever, no one notice it is from a videogame and...become a worldwide hit? (it does'nt need to be only one)
I'll cast my opinion later (when I get it).

None of them are about sex or killing people. They'd all crash and burn.

That's not true. Stick Hillary Duff or some other sickeningly sweet teenage girl on the screen, cover everything in pink, and flash some cute but not sexually threatening boys - and "Follow Me" becomes America's No 1 breakway smash hit.

I don't think any of them would succeed in mainstream circles. They're too much like real songs.

I think "Live and Learn" might do well. Repetive lyrics, a lot of screaming, and an electric guitar solo...it would fit right in.

"What I'm Made of" has that line about turning everyone into black marks on the floor, that's kinda like killing people.

I think "Lazy Days ~ Livin' in Paradise" has the greatest potential for overnight success, based on pure WTF factor alone.

That song is so out of the closet.

I remember during one of those Sonic & Knuckles/Spaghettios cross campaign commercials they played Chemical Plant Zone music as the background for the Mushroom Hill gameplay. Blasphemy I say.

Oh, I almost forgot: E.G.G.M.A.N., Sonic Heroes and Team Chaotix doesn't count, for obvious reasons.

+:
I just red the Sonic Heroes songs lyrics, and I got to the conclusion that "We Can" and "This Machine" wouldn't do either.

Sonic hasn't done a decent soundtrack since the Japanese version of Sonic CD

That's because Sonic can't sing or play an instrument. The only time I've seen him play something was in Sonic Shuffle.

Locit, to you, the Sonic restaurant is blasphemy.

Live and Learn might have a shot.

I seem to recall some character art of Sonic and Tails in some sort of band on the Sonic Screensaver. Isn't there some SA-style art of him with a guitar as well and as a DJ? And wasn't it said in Sonic's official profile that one of his hobbies was music?

I remember the old school Sonic picture with a guitar, but there were tons of pictures like that. One of him skiing, one of him and Tails driving race cars. I think I remember the DJ one too, don't remember a new school Sonic with a guitar though.

Just an FYI: There is a picture of sonic with a guitar in the Sonic Screensaver (more than one, I think); there isn't a modern image of Sonic with a guitar, but there is a DJ pic.

To be fair, Sonic seems like the kind of guy who would get a guitar to impress the ladies - but wouldn't have the attention span to learn more than one or two simple songs on it.

*imagines Sonic playing a crappy version of "Smoke on the Water" on a guitar he only picks up when extremely bored*

You just described my short-lived dreams of rock stardom.

$200 wasted on a guitar I spent not even two weeks with trying to learn.

This ain't neo-classical shredding. It's just some arpeggios for melodic embelishment.
Now, if you want to run chromatic scales up and down the neck, I'd be more than happy to show you how it's done.
