The real "baddest of baddest"

They are evil, imposing, hated by some, loved by others, and respected for all. Who do you think was the most well-made villain in all videogames? He does'nt need to be your favorite, but you already knew that.
I vote for Sigma. I mean, first he was all honorable and stuff, and then he got infected with a "certain" virus that made him hate humans, but ideologically. He was still honorable, as he tought he was doing the best for his "brothers", but after his first defeat, he took the form of a virus and became the bastard we all know today (or not).
Anyway, go ahead and choose whoever you feel like voting, or put your own personal nemesis, be it that angellic demon of FFVI or be that green witch from BK.
Thanks to whoever had the idea of giving the poll obligations to the people!

Sephiroth is an over-rated whiny girly little bitch who's personality has been shamelessly ripped off from thousands of anime and manga. The only reason he got so popular was because the western audience had never seen anything like him. Angsty, bad-ass, pretty boy villains are a dime a dozen in Japan. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting 40 of them.
And Sigma doesn't even make fucking sense as a character or villain. He appears unexplainably for no reason time and time again and has an incredibly boring motivation. Inserting Sigma into any Megaman story basically rapes all logic out of it. Thank fucking Christ that the Megaman Zero series at least has the damn common sense not to keep on ressurecting the same villain over and over again.

How did you make a poll?

Let's analyze the choices here:
Sephiroth: I think Zeta pretty much hit the nail on the head with this one. However I do have a few things to add: Sephiroth is, in actuality, a very one-dimentional character. Anyone who tries to explain any sort of depth he might have, are really just reflecting aspects of their own personality onto him. Yes, Sephiroth might have been "hurting inside," but that's only before he makes the discovery of Jenova and turns totally batshit insane and starts killing everyone and shit. If Sephiroth really had any sort of character depth, don't you think he would have struggled with his actions? But he didn't, which pretty much made him just another psychopath that likes killing stuff. Sort of like Kefka, but not nearly as good and entertaining at it.
Ganon(dorf): He's probably the closest on this list to being the "ultimate villain." Damn persistant and powerful, and also quite cunning at times. Plus, Nintendo knows when to give him a timeout and let another villain have fun getting their ass kicked by Link, keeping him from becomming too stale. (At least, they did. Recently he's been appearing almost non-stop in the games) Problem is, now Nintendo's become a bit inconsistant with his character. . . is he a human, or a monster? Are his actions simply the corruption of the desire to know something other than the death and desolation of the land he was born into, or was he just evil from the get go? Make up your minds!
Sigma: Sigma started out pretty cool. He wasn't just a madman bent on conquering the world, he was a revolutionary. He was attempting to rise up and liberate his Reploid bretherine from the oppressive clutches of human society and become independent. But then, Capcom ruined him, turning him from the Revolutionary to the Madman bent on World conquest, and eventually just world destruction. And really, up until Keiji Inafune left the X series to work on the Mega Man Zero series, all the characters were shafted so that all focus and development could be given to Zero, who's personality is as flat as a piece of poster paper even after some ten or so games.
Dr. Eggman: Again, he comes close, but considering how he's ended up having to save the world more often than trying to conquer it recently (though he's just saving it so he can conquer it later) kind of brings him down from being the "ultimate evil." Oh well, we still love the big guy.
I personally voted other. I personally don't know who I'd say is the ultimate bad guy, but I wouldn't name any of these guys as one of them.

Definitly not Sephiroth. I mean, I could argue that I think JENOVA is the real baddie and not Sephy who I just think is a puppet in her schemes, but whatever.
This may sound silly, but I'll vote Neo Cortex from Crash series. He's done armies of deadly animals, he's done mindwiping the entire planet from above space, he's gone time traveling to different parts of the world and time and successfully ruled over them all, he has unleashes the elements of the world and nearly destroyed the planet, he's even shrunk the planet (trying to make up for them short jokes, ey?) etc. If it wasn't the long standing rule that the heroes must always win, he'd have conquered the world in some shape or form by now.
Plus, he's amusing, we always need that.

Neo Cortex does know enough to constantly try new schemes instead of pulling the same one over and over again. I'll give him that.

Screw all of them. I vote for the cult from Silent Hill. It doesn't know when to stay down, ever. Despite having its near-aborted God killed in 1 and having a weaker form of its God killed, again, in 3, it still manages, to some extent, to rear its ugly head in 4. And despite the fact that Dahlia was killed in 1, Claudia came to take her place in 3, with Vincent appearing out of fucking nowhere as the 'leader' of their church.
The cult's actually been very close to successful, too, given that the God, had Kaufmann not thrown the Aphablabla on Alessa/Cheryl, it would have had time to be born properly. Ditto in 3, where, if Heather doesn't use the Aphablabla at just the right time, the God is born into full, horrible form.
God only knows what'll come about from them in 5.
Note: 2 isn't included, because the cult isn't involved at all. I don't say much more about 4, as I have yet to play much beyond a demo.

Kefka is the ultimate villain, if only because he acts like a Korean who just got Mass Carriers.
If anybody here got that, you need to stop playing StarCraft and go tan.

Lavos.
He's an alien that burrows into a planet, feeds off its juices while deftly manipulating evolution as to benefit it when it finally bursts out Alien-style millions of years later and showers the daft populace with thousands of nuclear HOT ALIEN DEATH before sending it's brood off to repeat the cycle.
Yeah, I'd say that's pretty bad. Character development is nilch, though.

As far as RPGs go, Sarevok is the best. He went about successfully murdering many of the Bhaalspawn, nearly initiated a huge war between Baldur's Gate and Amn, and very nearly took leadership of all of Baldur's Gate for himself. He also had the look of a badass, with his scary armor, and gruff voice.
Sure, the final battle was a bit anticlimactic, but the ending was neat. And you get to see him again in Throne of Bhaal, anyhow.

No idea who Sigma is, the Final Fantasy dude looks like an ugly woman, Ganon is a pig or a weird looking guy with a pointy nose. So I'll go with fatass.

I like how they gave Ganon some actual reasoning behind his actions in Wind Waker, other than "I'm a greedy bitch"... Too bad about his head though.
Sigma is just a bitch. Though, apparently, he's dead for good now, and won't be making an appearance in X8. It's a shame though, that after all those games, uber-dork Axl was the one to finally give him perma-death in X7.
I know no one is going to agree with me in this aspect, but I think Shuyin from FFX-2 was pretty cool. Shame he had to be in such a cheesy game, but he was like Tidus, except with balls. He actually had some quasi-slightly-almost decent motivation for doing what he did.
As for the worst villains ever... Um, Ultimecia from FF8 is pretty retarded, as is the rest of that game's story, and the last boss guy in Gungrave Overdose is a stupid bastard. And Ansem in Kingdom Hearts pretty much had no personality outside of looking like Sephiroth with a tan. A gay tan.

I admit, I liked him better then Tidus and that's saying a lot, considerly they look the same (hates Tidus to the death).
Personally, out of all the FF villans, I personally like Kuja. I mean, he discarded his brother out of jealously, he caused four nations to fall under into rubbles, and even destroyed his own home planet, among others, all while looking pretty. Although Kefke is awesome as well, even if we don't clearly see the reasons behind his motivation, but I guess it's better then make him some whiny angst person. Plus, he's demented, which I like.
Oh, and the Shinra is cool. Especially Rufus.

Well, they did tell you his motifs in the Reports.
As for Sigma, after looking at the TGS X8 trailer(Which you can see on the Capcom Japanese page
http://www.capcom.co.jp/rockmanx8/main.html Click on the pic where it has X aiming his Buster at the screen. ), it looks as if one of the enemy drones resembles him.

You do know that the giant insect and spawn parts of "Lavos" are actually part of an alien spacecraft, correct? Lavos himself seems to actually be a confused alien astronaut that crash-landed his living spaceship into earth. Cool origins.
Kinda funny, too because there's the chance that he's not evil and is just going like "Houston, we have a problem. The ship is feeding off the energy of this planet and some spikey-assed monkeys, a frog, and a giant robot keep on trying to kill me."

(quote)Sigma is lame(quote)
The bastard plotted a freaking WAR in X4!! And in this game, disconsidering that the humans were once more saved, X and Zero once more scaped, and he got once more destroyed, he fulfilled his objectives, since the Repliforce (that could be a problem to him) was destroyed, and the Maverick Hunters's reputation was considerably scratched (as indicated in the dialogues with the bosses in X5).
Also, he's pretty cool.
(quote)Sigma: Sigma started out pretty cool. He wasn't just a madman bent on conquering the world, he was a revolutionary. Yeah, he became a bastard after the 1st game, but his means of reaching this changed from game to game.
X2- ressurect Zero and make him a follower.
X3- make a twisted turn into a noble reasercher's projects.
X4- create a misunderstanding that turned into an unfair war.
X5- try to wake Zero's "true" nature.
X6- actually, he had'nt planned anything in this game, including his premature return.
X7- force a charismatic leader to follow his plans by turning all his colleagues/comrades into mavericks.
So, at least he mixes criativity and cruelty everytime he tries the same plan.
(quote)Sigma is just a bitch. Though, apparently, he's dead for good now, and won't be making an appearance in X8.(quote)
No, he'll be coming back in X8, but supposely for the last time.
