I'm looking at the Phantasy Star Online ver.2.0 page and something catches my eye concerning the seven Red weapons...
Red Saber -- This red saber is a prototype, so its finish is incomplete. Letters, which say "He," are carved on the hilt.
Red Sword -- This red sword is a prototype, so its finish is incomplete. Letters, which say "a," are carved on the hilt.
Red Dagger -- This red blade is a prototype, so its finish is incomplete. Letters, which say "t," are carved on the hilt.
Red Partisan -- This red partisan is a prototype, so its finish is incomplete. Letters, which say "h," are carved on the grip.
Red Slicer -- This red slicer is a prototype, so its finish is incomplete. Letters, which say "cl," are carved on the grip.
Red Handgun -- This red gun is a prototype, so its finish is incomplete. Letters, which say "i," are carved on the barrel.
Red Mechgun -- This red mechgun is a prototype, so its finish is incomplete. Letters, which say "ff," are carved on the grip.
Now, I'm pretty sure everybody knew about this already, but I didn't, so enlighten me...what the hell is going on? Did Yuji Naka like the cartoon Heathcliff? Is it a Cosby Show reference? What, what, what?

Heathcliff is a second-rate Garfield. And considering what Garfield is, that's pretty sad.

I know THAT. I mean, what relation does the name "Heathcliff" have with PSO?

*ahem*
Heathcliff Flowen, a.k.a. "Sir Greybeard", a high ranking military officer aboard Pioneer 1. He was the mentor of Red Ring Rico, and is regarded just as highly as Rico was within the military.
Flowen was part of the initial group that found the "casket" containing Dark Falz. His entire platoon was wiped out, but he managed to barely survive, but was infected with DF cells. Dr. Osto then used him as a test subject, confining to the Al Olga base on Gal Da Val Island. Publically, it was stated that Flowen died of naturual causes. However, the mixture of Osto's experiments and the DF infection caused him to turn into Olga Flow, one badass gigantic swordsman thingie, and much cooler than Rico's Dark Falz.
So yeah, you kick his ass and he floats away at the end, like Rico.
In Episode 3, Flowen and Rico's "souls" are still contained within the remnants of Falz, and when they sense Falz beginning to regenerate, Flowen and Rico initiate a second energy explosion of similair scale to the one that destroyed Pioneer 1, except this explosion eradicates only those living things infected with DF cells. The explosion also produces two side-effects: The Great Shadow, a collection of the remaining DF cell infected lifeforms, and Endu, a slighty psychotic human being with the conciousness of both Flowen and Rico inside of him. The Great Shadow begins producing a material called "Germ" which possess immense power is utilized by the military to create "C.A.R.D."'s, while Endu takes a job as a hunter, trying to find the location of the Great Shadow so that he can finally put an end to the Falz.
Um, by the way, this entire post was a spoiler.

But at least they finally landed on the goddamn planet. Like, that's really a relief to me.

I was always figuring they'd just run out of fuel and crash into the planet. Unless of course it was orbiting the planet, even then it couldn't stay in orbit forever.

This is the future. Gasoline and they're shockingly high prices are a thing of the past by this time.
Read a book!

One of Olga Flow attacks is transforming you into Heathcliff Flowen temporally, and the damage that Olga takes is the damage you take, so you have to shot, heal, shot, heal... If you are playing online there is a 90% of possibility that your comrades kill you if they’re not paying attention
The 3rd Dark Falz' form is good, but the 2 olga's forms are superb

Hey, before I reach ol' DF in Hard mode, tell me...how hard is his third phase?
Posted: Tue Oct 19, 2004 10:43 am
by Jaden
Not that hard, all you need is a good gun... And maybe a few Scape Dolls...

Unless you're a Force, then you're just screwed.

And when Falz on your map turns red it means that he has your soul and all damage you inflict on him will also be inflicted on you. Don't do too much damage to him or he'll bitchslap you dead. It'd probably be best to just let him let go of your soul.

If you lvl up a litle more it will not be very dificult in Hard -.-
if not, he can kill you with a simple atack or an unavoidable Grants, in very hard and ultimate is recomended to ekip abundant Frost, Fire and Light resistance for the second and third form respectively if you are a Force or a character with low HP, or you can be lvl 150 to survive his Rabarta

I had a 184 RAcast with maxed HP materials. This guy had well over 2000 HP, unless I had my Cure/Freeze on I'd die at that part on Falz. It freezes you and then the spinning things hit you a billion times. You have to remember though that the game is a lot easier offline singler player.

If you twirl the analog stick around like a hyper active crack whore you can escape from Freeze pretty quickly.
The trick to beating DF with a Force is... Um, use a Hunter or a Ranger instead.

I'm just a beginner here. I'm a Redrian HUmar. I spend a bunch of time Leveling-Up by doing Quests and junk. I'm at Level 44, and I just recently beat De Rol Le on Hard Mode. Not because I was having trouble, mind you. He was a freakin' snap, especially with some G-Assassin's Sabers. I just go through every single room of every single floor first, for rare items and enemies and shit. I'll be starting Mines Quests soon, once I take Paper Mario 2 back to the video store.

Even if you twirl the stick like a crack whore you usually don't have enough time to escape. At least in Ultimate online. Also apparently a lot of Xbox players broke their controllers doing that. Can't say it's ever happened to me though.

I bought PSO for Xbox today since I found it in the bargain bin at Circuit City for 10 bucks... Of course, I don't have Xbox Live ( I will soon... Oh yes, I will have it...), so it's pretty useless right now... But I noticed that you PSOX users got shafted with a shitty manual. The Gamecube manual is 60 pages thick, and pretty much explains every aspect of the game, where as the Xbox manual is 9 pages long and basically says "Go look at the website for more info" at the end of every short paragraph.
Of course, I suppose it balances out when you consider that its easier to get online with the Xbox.

Is there anything else that utilizes the GameCube modem? At all?

The full manual for PSO Xbox is on the Xbox website, I think. I downloaded it for the heck of it. It's a PDF file, in full color and quite long, so I don't think it makes a difference.
And GG!: No. PSO Episodes I, II, & III are the only GameCube games that use the modem and broadband adapter to go online. Three other games offer LAN modes: Mario Kart Double Dash!, Kirby's Air Ride, and 1080 Avalanche. Too bad Mario Kart is the only one worth attempting a LAN for.
