I have nothing to say. Sega has reached an all time low. Nights was my favorite game.

Because Spong is a very reliable news source, of course.

One source told us, “Sega of America has pitched the concept of westernising these franchises."
:(
Of the above, Sega designated House of the Dead as being the most important franchise.
Weak.
Golden Axe had the lowest priority.
WEAK.
We can confirm that Travellers’ Tales is in talks with Sega right now concerning one of the firm’s franchises that is not listed above.
Sonic?
WEAAAAAAAK.

Hell no. I refuse to believe this until other sources start to report this.
In fact, never heard of Spong before. Who are they supposed to be, anyway?

This news is spreading in other Sonic messageboards I go to like freakin' hotcakes. For me...well, I'm more or less going to wait and see an actual freakin' screenshot of whatever random game Sega gave to whatever company, not to mention details and stuff before I make a complete judgement. As of right now, I'm in my "I don't care" mode...considering I've never played any games on that list kinda helps add to the "I don't care."

Finally got it to load.
Sounds like BS to me, but we'll see. I'll believe it when big_smile posts it.

Jesus, why Spong? Couldn't you have used someone who has more of an idea of what happens in the industry, like Christian News Weekly?

I got it to load. Seems like crap, Naka would go on a rampage if NiGHTS was ever touched again.
And what the fuck is Spong?

I wouldn't be suprised, though; they're more concerned with being a top publisher instead of developer. Besides, I'm not so sure it would be all that bad if someone besides Sonic Team handled the sequel to NiGHTS. They haven't been too hot lately.

Hahahah, class. Altered Beast has a higher priority that Golden Axe? Nice.

I don't know why so many gamers have so many fond memories of Altered Beast. The game sucked. I only like it so much because 1) it's horrible, and 2) it's incredibly homosexual. POWER UP!

RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE!
First game I ever played. And I watched He-Man as a kid. Yeah, I got my fill of subliminal homosexuality as a boy.

I really hope its not true. That would be the best news ive heard all day.

First game I ever played.
It was the first game I ever played on the Genesis. It was my uncle's system, actually. He bought it when it was new, so it was before the Sonic era. I was pretty blown away by it at the time. It was a big attraction among the men on that side of the family... even my grandfather played it. (He died just about a year later, though I like to think the game wasn't the cause.)
So I was there when it happened and I respect it in the context of being one of
the games that ushered in the 16-bit era, but that considered, it's still impossible to look back on it as a "classic."

Shit, I forgot that Sega and Sammy merged. When does the merger become official again? Oct. something right?

October 1, though it isn't a full-blown merger (at least not yet). They've established a joint holding company to manage the affairs of both Sega and Sammy independent. I want to think I remember reading that the plan is to have the two operations completely melded by 2007 or something.

To be honest I never played or heard of it until the Sega Smash Pack for the DC. My childhood sidescrolling co-op fighters consisted of Streets of Rage and Golden Axe. Those were the good ones.

The PS2 Altered Beast looked pretty sweet. That was, like, 2 years ago. What the fuck happened to it?

I believe it was cancelled, and then uncancelled.

They showed a new trailer for it at TGS. You can see it at GameTrailers.com. It's called "Project Altered Beast" now, and it actually doesn't look too bad.

The new trailer is all cutscene, though, I don't think it shows any actual gameplay at all. The only gameplay footage I've seen was the stuff shown at E3 before last, and it looked heinous then.
Frankly, I think it's a horrible idea. Devil May Cry, as good as it was, ruined the action game genre because now that's all anyone ever does anymore, and slapping a "retro" series on it does not increase the appeal to me.

Ninja Gaiden made DMC obsolete anyway.
