Yesterday was the Dreamcast's 5th birthday.
9-9-99
9-9-04
So... yeah.

What are you trying to say? There aren't 100 days in a month?

It's a shame that the Dreamcast failed at the end. Although, if it had never happened, I would'nt be the Sonic fan I'm now- yes, I never had a Sega console (but the first videogame I ever met was the Master System-and I liked to see my cousin playing Sonic 1, what made him one of my favorites game characters, even tough I prefered the snes and forward), and I could'nt be happier when I (I hate to repeat "I" all the time, but what can I-SHIT!!)heard Sonic was going to be in the Nintendo games.

Kinda cool stuff on Sega and Dreamcast and whatnot.

Daaaaaaaaawwww....
I miss the DC, too, but there's a little bit of rose-coloured-glasses vision in there, eh? I man, sure the DC had some good games around and shortly after launch, but let's not forget the long, looong wait after before much else memorable came out.

The Dreamcast will always be the last greatest system ever created.
Fuck the PS2. Fuck your GameCube and it's ports. And fuck the XBoX... for some reason.
The current state of gaming blows. Nothing will ever bring back the days of the DC. This "First Person Shooter Generation" is horrible. I can't stand it. I've given up on gaming.
Oh, well. *eats a Drano cookie*

Hey man, there are still good games. It's just hard to find them under the great heaving piles of shit.

In another thread I wrote:Believe it or not, it's actually superior to the Gamecube. Comes with a modem, can at least play audio CDs, you can surf the web, and then there's the VMU, which is nifty.
The current 3 mainstream consoles aren't bad, but the DC had them all beat.

I played my DreamCast this weekend because I was at home and all my next gen systems were at my dorm. I never really thought about how much I liked that thing until yesterday. How pathetic is that?
Also I noticed that Sonic Adventure is a pretty short game now that I've been through it so many times. I can beat Sonics story in under 3 hours. That game took me a year to beat completely the first time. Well, 25 hours over the course of a year.

25 hours to finish all stories or to get everything?

Probably to get everything. It would be sad if it were to finish the stories.

When I beat Sonic Adventure, I got stuck on some spot about 2/3 through the game. I don't remember the exact part, but I for the life of me could not figure out what I was supposed to do. After about 3,000 tries and dying, I accidently did a Light Speed Dash and made it through the level easily. I felt like such an idiot. In total, it took me twenty-something hours to beat the game. It was just auto-saving my time, so all of that frustration added up and in all, I think about 15% of it was "real" gameplay.

I never get emotionally attached to systems because there is no point. It's the games that matter and there are ace games for every system. While you take solace in hating this "first person shooter generation," I will be enjoying Halo 2 without any prejudice.[/quote]

You never got attatched? You never enjoyed the soft and supple curve's of the Dreamcast's top, its warm, glowing triangular jewel, and its cute-yet-sexy-yet-pretty-much-just-glorified-memory-card VMUs? How could you not!? Incidentally, my love for the Dreamcast and hatred of Microsoft won't change whatsoever my enjoyment of Halo 2.

I'm sorry Locit, but the Dreamcast is not a sex toy. You should not regard it as one.

Sega Swirl is better than Puyo Pop, and best of all, it's free.

I have like 15 copies of that game.

To answer his question, it's because Sega packed Sega Swirl in with a lot of shit; demo discs, new versions of the DC Web Browser, etc. Plus, you can still get it for free on the PC.
To answer Baba's question, wait until he asks "Are you talking to me? I know your post is directly under mine and is fully applicable to what I said, but were you talking to me?"

I'll accept those terms and settle for a mild rolling of the eyes.

I had a subscription to ODCM and every single demo disc came with Sega Swirl.
Guuuh... HAL JORDAN!!!

Dreamcast... dang.
You know??? I really miss the old-gen Sega consoles. Why??? Because with the sole exception of Genesis and Game Gear, I have never touched any of Sega's consoles.
Yeah, it's kindda sad. I grew with my SNES, continued with my N64 (great console... too bad I missed some great games), and now I'm happy with my little Cube.
Although I must accept they are some great multiconsole games I miss, RE 4, Viewtiful Joe, and my Sonic games make me thing "Geez, I couldn't be happier".
BTW, I don't like FPS all that much, but I don't hate them either. Golden Eye and Perfect Dark are among the best games I have ever played.
