Possible Sonic Lego Dimensions Cross Over

It's been rumored for a while that Sonic might be coming to Lego Dimensions. Yesterday the Lego team posted a new
trailer, which had an interesting description:
When it comes to rings, you don't get in Gollum's way. Unless you're the new guy on the block! Find out who's headed to Lego Dimensions this Thursday.
It seems quite likely that Sonic will be joining the lineup, but we will know for sure on Thursday.

Confirmed (as Modern Sonic), along with:
- The Goonies
- Adventure Time
- The LEGO Batman Movie
- Knight Rider
- Powerpuff Girls
- Mission Impossible
- The A-Team
- Teen Titans GO!
- Harry Potter (and by proxy Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them)
- Ghostbusters (the female version)
- Gremlins
- E.T.
Gotta say, Sonic doesn't look too bad as a minifigure!

Dimensions is cool, but I'm honestly more excited about the possibility of this leading to official Sonic Lego sets.

In such an event, it will have been nice knowing my disposable income. Calling hours for my bank account balance will be held on the date of release of such possible Lego sets.

Who needs Sonic in Project X Zone when he can hang out with Mr.T and Sloth?

This is both likely and highly UNlikely at the same time. Portal, The Wizard of Oz, and Midway all have a presence in Dimensions, but no proper LEGO sets--not even as internet-backed fan-voted LEGO Ideas single sets like Doctor Who and Ghostbusters.
Not that it wouldn't be really awesome or anything!

Does Traveller's Tales still develop Lego games? This could be the first time in 19 years they made a game with Sonic in it. Neat!

Yeah, they develop all the LEGO games, and WB Games publishes them (and forces them to develop DLC/season passes).

Sonic looks great, even comes with a ring. I hope we get some official Lego sets in the future.

Apparently that tweet was deleted?
Plenty of people grabbed it already, though.

Since the ring can obviously be held in a Lego hand as-is, I can only think of one reason why they'd attach a dot to it like that.
So they can have 'floating' rings in official Sonic Lego sets!

The trailer dropped for Sonic in Dimensions, and WOW IT'S WAY MORE THAN I COULD HAVE HOPED. Being a Level Pack was the best possible outcome.

Gauntlet is a hella obscure thing to throw in. Do kids even know what Gauntlet is? I mean, it's clear they're aware of their very broad audience, but, huh!
Now I'm wondering what that top down racer is. Can't be micro machines, surely

I'm guessing it's from the Midway Arcade Level Pack, like with Gauntlet; one of that pack's features was playing LEGO-fied versions of classic arcade games like Rampage.

I actually think this was the most interesting reveal of the night. A 3d Sonic game where you can explore, and aren't confined to one straight path, and don't rely on boosting.
Being able to play as Sonic and enter the worlds of The Simpsons, Adventure Time and Ghostbusters sounds crazy fun.

Chris will finally be able to make Sonichu Lego collages with a little yellow acrylic paint and welfare money.

Double post, but apparently there is no edit post feature, or I can't find it. Oh well.
Actually Sonic's "ring" is a flotation device. It's an existing part that has always had that stud. It's also been used in green as greebling for Lex Luthor's kryptonite blaster.

You can now have Aquaman, Krusty the clown and Shadow the hedgehog working together in the same scene. Because you wanted it.
Also, Big the cat is still alive after his last appearance in... what, Sonic Heroes?

Shadow, still trying to fulfill his promise to Maria.
I have no idea if this is real or not, but I applaud whoever came up with it.

I really hope they end up making more Sonic mini-figs. :D

The whole story.
Most interesting bit: 16-bit Sonic 2's Mecha Sonic seems to have been officially named Robo Sonic. Maybe this'll finally put to rest that incorrect "fact" that he's named Silver Sonic like 8-Bit Sonic 2.
My favorite bits:
Tails' StF Workshop! I always liked that logo the most! And
Knuckles swiping that firearm from Shadow. Also
SA1/Prince reference. hahaha

Am I the only one who feels rather...put-off by the odd lack of ACTUAL Sonic music for the Genesis-era areas? They got the proper music for everything else, what was stopping them from being able to use all of it?

Masato Nakamura strikes again, I reckon. I was expecting Flickies' Island and R music, myself--y'know, some acknowledgement of Traveller's Tales history with the series. Would've been preferable to the store brand renditions, at any rate.
