I think it looks awesome. Ok, maybe the level needs a bit of clean up (too much going on at same time on the screen), but it looks more faithful than any Sonic 4 out there. Looks kind of blurry, but Sonic's sprite is exactely what I'd like in a 2D game.

Start complaining about what - how unreal this looks? Honestly, this has to be the most effort anybody has put in any fan game (as far as I've seen), so it's hard to believe that was actually done by one person.

I absolutely love, love the scenery -- the egg mecha flying in the background is an great touch.
Not what I'd expect from a Sonic game. But still great, I'M NOT COMPLAINING SHUT UP.

They forgot to make Sonic uncurl when he goes off a ramp like he did in the classics.

To be fair to Sonic 4, it's much easier to be faithful to the original when you just remake Sonic 2. Not that there's anything wrong with that, necessarily.

Because Sonic 4 is all new content and not just remakes.

The only real complaint I have is the screeching to a halt sound and its lack of consistency with the other sound effects.

I frequently found the background more interesting than the foreground, possibly due to the amount of visual clutter. Other than that, my only 'complaint' is that it looks too good to be true.

The graphics look way overdone, all the characters just meld into the background and foreground. The overgrown vines and waterfalls are especially bad. Even the sky is a similar shade of blue to sonic!
Also the level is adorned with very ugly looking props and the musical arrangement is unimaginative.

I'd play that. I'd play it twice.

Oh right, URL shortener.
Anyway, despite perhaps needing a bit of work on aesthetics (clutter's the main problem) it's a real marvel to look at.

Way too busy looking at times, and it's a shame that the new additions just make Emerald Hill Zone look even more like Green Hill Zone, but otherwise very impressive work.

Too clutter and distracting. Besides that. This asshole put loads more effort into tweaking the game mechanics, physics then Sega. If only I could feel the controls. This guy should just make new levels. I'd rather donate to this guys Pay-Pal account then giving Sega an ounce of money, dander or ball crust.

There's no Motora in Emerald Hill!

There were weird Motora-like ſnail badniks in an early beta version of Emerald Hill Zone, I think that’s what theſe are ſuppoſed to be.

I agree.
Also, c'mon man. Can't you be consistent here? "ſnail badniks"? Shouldn't it be either "ſnail badnikſ" or (like most sane people) "snail badniks"?

He did it for some 'r's too. I assume it is just too complex to understand, although apparently he did not think about that.

There exiſt a lot of rules concerning the uſage of the long and the round „s“ (with which I admit I’m not too familiar yet myſelf). The most baſic one is that the long „ſ“ is uſed at the beginning or in the middle of a word unleſs it borders an „f“ (and in even earlier time centuries a „b“ or a „k“ as well). The round „s“ is placed at the end of a word, after an apoſtrophe, and in case it borders an „f“ (or a „b“ or a „k“). It’s all rather confuſing. The rules are even more complicated and elaborate for German, where for example you need to uſe a round „s“ at the end of a ſyllable or a part of a word in caſe the word is a compound. Except when it’s part of one ſound, like „ſch“, „ſp“ or „ſt“. I ſtill fail to fully memoriſe them all, but I’m trying hard to internaliſe them one day!
