You passed time with Catherine

Atlus has announced a new spin-off from the Persona series titled "Catherine."
Perhaps the most interesting thing about the game, apart from the fact that it appears to depict actual sexual content rather than smash cutting to a black screen powered by your own imagination, is that isn't about a bunch of teenage fashion rejects. With a protagonist in his 30s, it looks like it may have a genuinely adult tone. The fact that his voice is done by Koichi Yamadera (Spike from Cowboy Bebop) specifically makes me hope that the Japanese track is retained for the inevitable North American release.
It looks like a psychology major's nightmares come to life, and I kind of like that.

Is it actually a spin-off? It's obviously got the same visual style, which I've always liked even though I've never been a fan of the series, but I was hoping it wasn't really related to the Persona mythos which I am largely ignorant of.
What kind of game is it, exactly? Like a text adventure?
I thought this looked pretty good, too:

What a surprise, you come out of hiding to post about one of your perverted sex simulations!

That guy has weird eyes. 50p says they get Steve Blum to voice the US release.

Man, it would be great if they got Steve Blum, wouldn't it?

Apparently it's action/adventure game, although I wouldn't be surprised if a great deal of it winds up being text-based. The only actual connection it has to Persona is that the main character made
a cameo appearance in the recent PSP remake of Persona 3. Beyond that, it doesn't appear to have any direct connection to the mythos... and even if it does, you can probably ignore it, since the games in the series are hardly connected as it is.

I couldn't think of a better place to post about it.

I don't know if I can get my rocks off if the characters are not shooting themselves in the head.

Sex is bad! (・A・)
At least outside of long-lasting, solid, and loving relationships or marriage.

Both that Gabriel doctor guy and the Vincent character are conspicuously similar to Spike... maybe the character designer really dug him.
Also, battling Megaten enemies with something other than first-person perspective or the Press Turn battle system will be refreshing.

Actually those sheep dudes are evil Celtic giants from the rest of the series:

Yeah, those are the sort of nods and winks I'm afraid of missing. I hate being out of the loop.

Well, if you're concerned about not understanding every little reference to the Shin Megami Tensei series as a whole, most people are going to be just as out of the loop as you are. Most of the games haven't even been released in North America. I've never played Nocture or Devil Survivor, so I didn't even know that those sheep had appeared in prior games.
That Wiki is really great. I've spent hours on it learning about all of the little references and connections between P3-4 and the rest of the SMT meta series.

You really can't make pizza erotic. It's a noble effort, but she's just like slobbering all over the cheese and that shit's just nasty. All I can think is that she's ruining an otherwise delicious looking slice of pizza, and as a man who has not
had a proper American pizza in over two years, that's just criminal. It's like looking at a picture of a lynching or a torture.

Jesus Christ... they kinda did drop the ball there.
What's the Japaneses take on a slice of pizza?

Small. Square. Thick "crust" that's more along the lines of stale bread. Trace amounts of some orangish substance that seems like a cross between watered-down ketchup and Spaghettio's vomit. A few shreds of what is either congealed whale semen or a chemical byproduct from the creation of a cheese substitute. Broccoli. Corn, goddammit. Fucking asparagus. If you're lucky, you may find a few thin slices of ham.
It's not pizza.

Dude, just make your own. If you can find bagels or English muffins, sauce + cheese + toppings is a pretty damn decent replacement. If you're up to it, I'm pretty sure they have bread dough SOMEWHERE on the moon.

I've tried, but my success has been limited. You can buy shredded cheese, but it doesn't seem like it's quite right for pizza (and is crazy stupid expensive anyway), plus you can't buy pepperoni and I can find proper western-style mushrooms only seasonally (shiitake just doesn't work as well). I have to go to the import food store an hour drive away just to get olives.
Plus I don't have an oven.

Our crust is thick and our sauce is thin. We're everywhere, so you gotta give in.

Ah, the lack of an oven would hinder success regardless. There aren't any decent Italian restaurants around? I mean, if they have McDonalds...

I think that's Scottish.
Seriously though, I hear they do crazy shit like slap fried eggs on top of the hamburger patties, so I doubt it's that authentic.
