The Mario Peoples

Post by Dr. BUGMAN »

A Japanese children's book giving a behind-the-scene famicom-era documentary has surfaced and translated into English. Truly interesting stuff! I had no idea Miyamoto was (is?) a smoker!

Naughty you, Tezuka! You've got a nifty little Sega Mega Drive collection going, including Altered Beast (twice), Super League, Osomatsu-Kun, and Phantasy Star II.
Heh.

Everyone in Japan smokes. They force them to start at 3 months.

While poking around trying to find the kids' book, I found these pages of an old Famitsu Magazine which depict "Americans" buying, renting, and otherwise enjoying video games (see down at the bottom of these pages).

I wish the scans of those sections were larger.

You know they're Americans because they're wearing cowboy boots!

Yeah, disgruntleddesigner is one of my favorite sites. It's chock-full of neato stuff, but this latest one really felt thread-worthy. Interestingly enough, the guy running it is one of those freaks that has to have scanlines in his games.

It feels a little strange to see a younger miyamoto. I always thought of him as the happiest middle-aged men I've ever seen. has anyone seen for a photograph of him when he's not smiling? It's like his Cheshire cat or something.
