At least they're focusing (somewhat) on what they're good at.

Boring CGI?

I thought Night of the Werehog was cute, and more enjoyable than the game it was used to advertise.

But I guess that's not saying much, huh?

#1 animation studio in the region within 5 years is a pretty lofty goal... especially for Sega.

What are the odds they'll hire someone with actual story-telling prowess and not just bank on the flashy visuals to get parents' money?

Do we really need another Dreamworks?

I wonder what possibilities this might have for the Sonic franchise.. A new cartoon series? Direct-to-DVD movies? Theatrical Movies?

This is really old news. I don't know about you guys but I think the Sonic Unleashed CG cutscenes were amazing, possibly some of the best Sonic animations I've ever seen. I've seen him running from Eggman in slow motion several times and it never ceases to amaze me the amount of detail they've put there.

I haven't played Unleashed, but definite agreement on the movies being good. Especially the one in the beginning of the game. Even the Werehog stuff couldn't dull the fantastic visuals in that opening movie.

I thought the intro movie to Unleashed was pretty good, but didn't match up to the CGI cutscenes in Shadow the Hedgehog or the intro to SEGA Superstars Tennis.
That quick shot of Sonic running from the arm on Eggman's robot was terrible. But the rest of it was pretty good.

Please tell me you are joking. Sonic's cheeks and belly were YELLOW in that scene. It looked awful.

Odd you'd pick that part out; he didn't seem any more yellow there than in the rest of the video. The part of that sequence that irked me was the bizarre squash-and-stretch going on right before Eggman grabs him.

Shitty screencap in 3...2...1....

I'mpretty sure that was just the usual cartoony exaggeration that goes on in stuff like that. Like how if someone runs away, the rest of the body leaves, with the head following a few seconds behind on a strechy neck.

And that's what's so cool about it. It reminisces of older animation glory like Chuck Jones and Tex Avery.

Dooo it. It probably deserves its own topic.
