Egging on simpler games

Post by K2J »

So Prope's newest project is this, "Ivy the Kiwi?". Yes, with the question mark. It's a rather simplistic puzzle-style game where you lead a walking kiwi (the bird, not the fruit) through obstacles by drawing vines on the screen, creating platforms. You can also pull these platforms back and release to propel the kiwi through breakable blocks and stuff.

Looks a bit empty to me. Something along the lines of a relatively-polished flash game. I doubt anyone here has a Windows Mobile-enabled phone, anyway, but you never know.

It looks like it is 2-dollar DSiWare/iPhone quality.

I always thought of Rick Wakeman for game soundtrack as well. Somehow very fitting. I used to listen one of his cds with my friends and we would point out "Forest Stage", "Boss Theme", "Temple Stage", "Intro music"...

^Woah how did that post make it here?

Game seems sparce, but the sound effect for making vines seems way too familiar to the point that its seriously bugging me. What is it from?...

Also wondering whats up with Naka and eggs.

The background is really dull, but I think the simple vine mechanic is kinda interesting... although that's been done plenty of times now on DS.

New Zealand Story will always be the best game starring a Kiwi.

I just saw the trailer for the Wii version and now I'm kind of pumped!

Not that its being the Wii version has anything to do with it, but I hadn't seen any videos where anything cool happened (the cool stuff happens near the end). I guess there's some pretty cool stuff going after all. I'm still only kind of pumped, it's hard for such a simple sort of game to really seem relevant, but now I'm interested at least.

I don't know about the sound effect for drawig vines, but the one for enemies dying is the same stock sample used in this tower defense game.

Them japs and their stock sound samples!
