So, it was recently confirmed on Ken Penders message board that Rotor the Walrus is gay.
"I thought it was fairly obvious Rotor was gay, and begun laying the groundwork for that storyline during the MOBIUS: 25 YEARS LATER segments. I even showed his life partner without saying as such and planted clues between the lines."
It was really, really obvious. I remember reading MOBIUS: 25 YEARS LATER at the time and being really surprised that it got by editorial. They showed him with this other male scientist and described them as having a deep, emotional bond. I think the other scientist even called him sweetheart or something similarly affectionate.
I am surprised I remember this! I haven't read the book for years, but it's kind of too bad if this fell out of continuity since then. Don't ask me why a gay relationship is more shocking than an inter-species one.
Was this in the first 25 years later segment? I was following the comic at that time (it was when WB was in it) and I completely missed it, I was probably too appalled by the writing and characterization of everyone else (and probably the artwork) to even take notice. I'm certainly not going to dig my old comics out to check.
Oh jesus, I hate when writers pull this shit. "Look at me I have a black gay character see see I'm HIP AND WITH IT" I'd rather have characters that were originally, intentionally gay, instead of magically turned gay for no apparent reason, aside from making the writer(s) look good.
It's funny, because I would at least be amused by this in a setting where the characters had sexualities besides "psycho stalker bitch", but mostly I don't think sexuality of ANY kind belongs in this franchise and your damned furry inter-racial soap operas can burn in the fires of hell no matter what orientations they are.

Is that true? Cause that would actually be pretty damn funny. I mean, that one of the canonical "Sega Sonic" characters (as opposed to Archie characters like Rotor) gets turned into a gaymo in an official spin-off. That would almost be like if Disney gave some other company the legal right to make a cartoon where Donald Duck comes out of the closet.
