Gosh look at those screen shots, Sonic was so appealing back then, I still remember when I entered Target and saw on a TV and playable Genesis, Sonic and Knuckles and I was like :D... I feel old as...I just don't know anymore.

Wait, so you'll be able to use the lock on if what now? Do you have to have the other games? Am I interpreting that correctly?

That's how I'm interpreting it. I wonder if it actually uses the data in the other VC games to make the "lock on" work (it must detect their presence to determine which ones are available for you), or if it's just one uber ROM with all four games in it?

It still seems stupid to buy this on VC. A GC controller and SMC is probably cheaper on the 800 point price (plus all the other stuff).

I've heard the emulation is slightly better, though! Surely that makes a difference?
I could see why you'd want to repurchase, say, Sonic 2, because it doesn't have a save system and the VC by default has a quicksave (and Mega Collection doesn't), but not Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Uber ROM. Actually it's probably four S&K ROMs bundled, and the presence of 1-3 activates certain ones. I read that VC games aren't allowed to access each other in the fashion that lock-on would. Bit of a shame, cause this coulda been the closest to an accurate S&K port (sound notwithstanding) - I think the only two behavoirs of the original cartridge still not carried over to any port are upgrading Sonic 3 save data and being able to lock-on to any compatible Genesis game.
This one is 600 points apparently, which makes $30 for the whole trilogy on VC - lame, and more expensive than Backbone's ports, but those are butchered beyond belief.

It's only 600 points in Japan because ALL Genesis games are 600 points in Japan. In the US it'll be 800 points, making it $32 for the complete set.

You could upgrade Sonic 3 data in Mega Collection, iirc.

I dont see why anyone here should be excited about this. I mean, who doesn't have a working copy of Sonic 3 & Knuckles on this forum?

S3+K was awesome, but I liked the PC soundtrack better. Hydrocity Zone's organ is amazing when heard on a Yamaha XG card. ^^

Also, didn't Sonic Jam for the Saturn have the lock-on? I may be wrong, it's been like 6 years since I've played it (and it was at a friend's, I sadly never owned a Saturn).

It's four heads not four penises. This drawing makes no sense.

Oh Jesus Christ. I was wondering what a four-headed penis looked like and I found out. I hate myself.

*HORRIBLY MIND SCARRING PICTURE*
OH. WOW. 0_O I'm never going to sleep again without having quadpenis nightmares.
It makes the mind boggle though, does a female echidna have four vaginas? Or is it like an echidna multi-tap, all four into one?
OH GOD THE BEEGEES STAYING ALIVE JUST CAME ON ITUNES, AND NOW THE LITTLE RED URETHAS LOOK LIKE LITTLE MOUTHS AND THEY ARE SINGING THE SONG. THAT IS ENOUGH OF THIS THREAD FOR FOREVER.
