How do you make a internet celebrity?

Post by Edgerock »

I mean... how the heck did people or groups like... Fred, Nigahiga, or Smosh become popular?

Fred?

The same way Disney channel shows become successful:

* Take 1 boy under the age of 19 with moderately successful to attractive boyish looks.
* Market them heavily towards teenage girls, teenage gay boys, and pedophiles.
* Profit!

I see Fred toys constantly. It's kind of creepy, really.

I liked it better when we discussed the merits of arachaic 90's cartoons and videogames. The shenanigans of these youthful, exuberant, effeminate boys make me feel so dated, and I'm fucking 20 years old!

Yeah. Though at least you're not alone in this regard.

Gentlemen, I assure you that these rumors are nothing but baseless lies peddled by crooked opportunists who would benefit from the defamation my of reputatable character! Now, gentlemen, let us return to the original topic of discussion as scrupulous, civilized men. *ahem!*

All of these "internet celebrities" are sissies, if ya ask me!

Perhaps he likes hating everything.
Also I am starting to picture Segaholic as the Schtroumpf Grognon (using the original French name because I don't know the English one; and I refuse to use those ending in "-y" from the awful bastardisation that was the The Smurfs cartoon).

Nonsense, he's clearly Francis from Left 4 Dead.

I hate the smurfs, but looking at it I'd wager he's "grumpy" smurf or something.

Do you hate the comics too? Or only that abysmal TV series which is an insult to the utterly brilliant source material?

I hate the blue little buggers in general. They're just obnoxious-looking.

Fred is awful. Edgerock, I don't think we can be friends anymore.

But to answer your original question, I think it's just loading up a bunch of decent videos (all in a spontaneous, humorous tone) onto a YouTube Channel and being lucky enough for enough people to stumble onto it.

I don't know how popular they are, but these guys are pretty funny:

Who the hell even likes Fred? I figured you'd have to be completely braindead to find him entertaining at all.

In a better world with a lower age of consent, these people would just skip the pretense and do porn and everyone would be a lot happier, and the Jonas brothers wouldn't have a career outside of fluffing.
