Ed Edd n Eddy's Big Picture Show - Eddy's Brother at last...

If you choose to skip to the end of part 8 as this is the beginning. The end of a ten year long cartoon network series. A pretty good series for only 12 human characters at most for at least one hundred episodes and four specials. Great movie and ending.

Hi. Just wanted to say you're my new favorite person. I've been wanting to watch this.
So they finally show Eddy's brother, do they? The supposed hyper badass who must never be seen, only mentioned? Can't wait for that bit.

I'm not sure if showing Eddy's brother is the smartest move... that'd be like showing the faces of Cow and Chicken's mom and dad.
What's the deal with Ed, Edd n Eddy, anyway? Was the fifth season made by the same guys? If so then why did it change everything and consequentially suck so much? The fourth season finale was basically the end story... and then you have all those special episodes, and no decent DVD releases...
I'd really like to watch every single episode of the show, but there's no readily available way to do so and I don't know in what order to watch what. Ed, Edd n Eddy were a great cartoon series, and arguably the last good show Cartoon Network ever put out, but its status seems to be so niche that there's hardly any interest to release the entire series, which is a damn shame.
Or, in other words, buttertoast.

Fun fact: The same actor that voiced Ed voiced Captain N.

I hated this show, never saw the appeal and thought all the characters were annoying and bland.

Well this movie turned out to be one of the loudest and most obnoxious things I've ever watched. It has the same plot substance as a regular episode, but those usually last 7 minutes, not an hour and half. It's as bad if not worse than season 5, which basically consisted of characters getting mangled in every way possible, much like this movie until the very end.
Everything's too exaggerated, even by Ed Edd 'n Eddy standards, and that's really saying something. Regular episodes usually don't feel this incoherent, and (since it's "The Movie" and all) there are some pretty lousy attempts at giving the characters more insight than they're supposed to have, such as Eddy and Double D's relationship and Nazz's sudden crush on Kevin. Where did that last one come from? And where did it go?
And then they end it all by making the characters respect the Eds, which would probably have been an interesting way to give the series some closure, had it not been so poorly executed. Eddy's brother is smacked by a door. Everyone suddenly loves the Eds despite chasing them for revenge throughout the entire movie, not to mention hating them for five seasons. Wow.
ALSO THERE WERE NO JAWBREAKERS. AT ALL.

I used to watch this back when it started, which was many a years ago, and it was an awful kid's show then. I can only assume this is the same poorly animated crap even 12 year olds would hate.

My initial response was that upon seeing who Eddy's brother is and how he treats him, they realized why Eddy is the way he is. But it did go a little overboard.Blount wrote: And then they end it all by making the characters respect the Eds, which would probably have been an interesting way to give the series some closure, had it not been so poorly executed. Also Kevin and Nazz were implied to be an item throughout the show, so it really didn't phase me insofar as it held little relevance and went nowhere.

Did anybody but me catch the implication during the credits that Plank is evil and Johnny is his pawn? I know you couldn't hear it at all, but still...

I think they already did that in one episode...

Animation wise, this was one of the most exciting and visually appealing Ed, Edd n Eddy. With that said it fails hard of the TV cartoon to feature length syndrome. Worse yet they chose to make it an adventure format. This suffered like the Tiny Toons movie did (Except that was a good film with funny gags) it was simply too dragged out.
I think the Brother aspect was handled very well. It explains why Eddy is the way he is. I don't particularly think a story telling the story of the Ed’s friendship is required because we have already taken for granted that they are together because they are the social outcasts of the group. And of course the character will seem two-dimensional, they really can't be anything else. I disliked the pure happenstance of the boys continually running into things that would eventually lead to finding the brother by pure coincidence. It's just a feature filled with obstacles for the boys to interact with before they move on to another until they reach the finish line. I do haft to say I like the premise of the three Eds doing a scam so bad that they are on the run from the gang. Now if they could have somehow shown what had happened and maybe through the eyes of the character through the progression of the chase, we could have had an interesting story. But hey this is Ed, Edd n Eddy.
With all that being said, all my complaints are that of the foundation of the show. This is really how an episode can be played out, just not as long. I probably enjoyed this film more because I haven’t watched this show in years and until recently I never knew this show made it past season one. My only station that ran it was Teletoon and they to my knowledge only ran the first (maybe second?) season/s.

Re: Ed Edd n Eddy's Big Picture Show - Eddy's Brother at last...
Just watched it. It sucked.
I hate it when people see plot resolution as a good way to wrap up a series. It ruins the entire magic of the show - the feeling that it could seemingly go on forever. No real ending for Doraemon, Urusei Yatsura, Calvin & Hobbes, etc. could ever feel right.
I'm well aware that upon arrival to the cul-de-sac something could happen that would reset the status quo, but doesn't invalidate the bullshit character development.
Also, yeah, since when did Nazz love Kevin so much? In the series she was just the neighborhood babe which everyone drooled over, but no real relationships were really ever shown or hinted.
And I was right about Eddy's brother. They should've never expanded on it. He was a more interesting and intimidating character when you knew nothing about him (seeing how Eddy exaggerates and flat out makes up nearly everything, there's really not a lot to go on) before being revealed as a generic douchebag. Did you feel sorry for Eddy? I felt sorry for the show.
Next they make a Cow & Chicken movie where Mom and Dad's parenthood are explained, Flem and Earl admit homosexuality and Piles the Beaver is revealed to be evil and the one who forces Cow to do everything she does.
tl;dr endings suck

Every guy who makes cartoons knows "The movie" is a way to kill the Tv series, and so, they killed Ed, Edd and Eddy, I cant blame them, the show has been going for too long. Still, this movie shows that they didnt had any idea of how to do a movie...
