I fucking HATE bats

I will give my left testicle to the first person who can recommend a game - any game of any genre on any console - with bat enemies that don't make me want to take a bite out the fucking controller and brutally rape the exposed circuitry.

I'll even pay for the shipping.

Well, does it have to be a console game?

(You can keep the testicle if this counts.)

I'd have to say Zack & Wiki, even though I don't like the game. Bats are only there so you can turn them into bat-brellas and parachute down from a high place. Or does that not count as an "enemy"?

My mind can only turn to "Zack & Wiki Make a Porno" when I hear the title of that game.

There are vampire bats in Wario Land 4 that grant Wario extremely wonky flight until he encounters light or water. They aren't enemies per se, but offer a fun little diversion.

I'm noticing a new trend... and I like it!
So, anyway. There's a bat enemy that was present in almost every single Megaman X game, and with the exception of one stage (the one in X5 with the bat maverick boss), they're pretty manageable.

They were in Wario Land 3 as well. Turned Wario into a vampire, they did - although the bat was the only really useful aspect of that form, so the fact they streamlined it straight into Bat Wario in WL4 didn't really surprise me. Still weak to water and light, but also garlic.

Swoopers in the Paper Mario games run varying degrees of annoyance: the ones that like to hang on ceilings are no problem, unless you have nothing to hit them off the ceiling with. None of them can lay a scratch on you if you electrify Mario, but you better remember to do that for the HP-sucking kind.

(let me be the next to say fuck this noise edit limit)

Now, who the hell would call their daughter "Lacinda"? And "Esmarelda" looks even worse.

Does Rouge during the hero side of SA2 count?

Out of curiosity, what was the particular game that brought about this thread?

Adventure Island Wii.

Bats got you down with Master Higgins? I was not even aware there was a Wii game for that.

In Conker's Bad Fur Day, while the enemy bats are annoying, you can turn into a bat and shite on everyone's head.

In terms of annoyance, I don't think so. Most of the character battles in SA2 seemed more based off of luck than anything else. Plus, you can't even see where she is half the time when using Knux.

The Wii version of Sonic Unleashed has bat/demon enemies, some of which will not attack and serve to fly you around the stage.

Castlevania: Aria of Dissonance.

Only in the sense that with an overhead weapon, they go down with ease, and they tend to not be in areas with a lot of complicated platforming.

The Medusa Heads, on the other hand...

Aria of Dissonance? Juste Belmont invades Dracula's castle as a teen only to find out he's Dracula incarnate?

It's not like I spoiled that one point in Portrait of the Night where Jonathan and Charlotte reach Dracula's chamber only to find out it links to a second castle. Which is upside-down.

I've been listening to this NES remix CD my friend burned for me for years. Now I finally know where 2 more of the songs came from.

Best mashup ever?

I can't keep track of my Metroidvanias. Whichever one has the main character that looks like he's an albino.

Aria of Sorrow. Or Dawn of Sorrow if you're playing the DS game.

To be fair, they are getting a bit samey. Ecclesia did break things up a bit by dividing the levels up into various stages, very few of the initial ones being inside Drac's castle. Unfortunately, it also is hard as hell. I still can't beat that giant enemy crab boss - I know you kill it with an elevator, but I haven't even been able to reach said elevator before dying, horribly.
