The media is always right!!!

I assume you all have heard of the kid who ran amok in Germany and killed 16 people including himself. Well, now let us analyse the post-event media coverage:
The BBC and various other news agencies claim that he's announced this deed in an "internet chatroom" before. At the page of the Tagesschau, there's even a screenshot of it!
Image
This, quite obviously, is not a chatroom but an imageboard. As I've been there a couple of times, I also instantly saw that it was the German board Krautchan. Misinformation 1: Imageboards are not chatrooms and are never taken seriously anyway. Also, the media claims he had been addressing a person called "Bernd". Which is a normal German name, however... Misinformation 2: Anonymous on Krautchan is called "Bernd" for no reason, thus he hasn't been addressing a single person but rather the whole board. So, let's see if the post is still up on Krautchan! Oops, what?
Quality journalism

Unfortunately, our tiny server can't handle the current rush. There's nothing to see anyway, since the German press was unfortunately fooled (and probably not for the first time either) by a forgery.

No killing spree was announced here, there are only people who know how to use Photoshop.

Apparently, researching is considered uncool nowadays. It's bad enough to copy from Wikipedia, but from here? Christ.

By the way, we don't know what exactly the authorities claim to have found on the perpetrator's PC. Maybe he visited the site, but he definitely didn't write the post that went through the news, because that one never existed.

(Here's a screenshot of the quite unspectacular original, which doesn't have anything whatsoever to do with killing sprees.)

In any case, we're offline until traffic has gone back to normal levels.
Misinformation 3: The two previous wrong informations are based on a fake, edited screenshot of something that never happened.

Summary: All the media coverage about this event has been announcing something that was a terribly incorrect information obscuring the real circumstances, and it was not even genuine in its basics as the screenshot it was based on was photoshopped. Good job!

The media would not lie, I do not believe you.

By the way, global warming does not exist and India is a modern example of enriched society.

AFTER HOURS OF IT BEING BLURTED OUT ON EVERY TV CHANNEL AND ON EVERY INTERNET SITE POSSIBLE:

http://www.tagesschau.de/inland/amoklauf162.html

Looks like they have actually not forgotten how to do research!

What you're complaining about is commonplace in the United States.

Yeah, I hate that shit too. I can never watch some drama-related news because I'm always at risk of being misinformed by these media outlets' lazy fucks.

Whoa, man... how did you find that out? You've really done your homework, there.
Anyway, cases like these usually end up with rushed coverages, anywhere. It's specially sad when people who may or may not have commited a crime are mistakenly declared guilty by the media (and before they can do anything, the public).

Average joe above the age of 25 has no fucking clue what the internet actually is. None whatsoever. Why are you bothering with tv media news anyway? You have the internet right in front of you.

Every news station is either run by the government (thusly wants a specific view) or is out ot make money.

Interesting stuff, bullshite or not, makes money.

I primarily get my news from the internet, usually with BBC and tagesschau.de RSS feeds. The sad thing is, the Tagesschau already is a government-funded and the most reliable and serious news source on German TV there is. :|
And well you can't really escape it if you just want to see if there's some interesting documentations about history/foreign cultures/nature/techonology and there's badly researched and overly sensational on every damn channel there is, even usually serious also public ones like Phoenix or Arte. Fortunately it's stopped by now, except for random politicians calling for stricter weapons laws (even though they are already very strict and almost nobody has firearms) and of course KILLER GAMES.

The BBC is not a good source at all. You are better off looking at independant news sources. The ones run by people who personally just want to report news, not paid to do it.

So that is why there are so many news sites about Sonic. Had no idea these people got food for it.

Why bothering arguing if you're going to be purposefully obtuse?

The media is always right? I thought these days the media was mostly left. Except for Fox News, but, well, they're Fox News.

Surely you are aware that organisations run news sites and post this news on the internet? They generally are run by their own personal money and donations.

You... compared the BBC to Sonic websites. I don't think I'm the one who's confused.

You acted as if people need to get paid huge amounts of money to report news just to get food.

My point was Sonic fans do it in their spare time, just like other people do with real news. I was comparing it to the lowest form of news, proving that you do not need huge amounts of money to report it.

...Except in the grand stream of things, Sonic is ultimately inconsequential as opposed to, say, government affairs.

Kogen, there are people in the media, both mainstream and fringe, who put enormous amounts of effort into what they do. They just don't "do it in their spare time".

Allow me to further illustrate your logic, or at least how I percieve it: The best artists aren't those who dedicate hours, talent and dicsipline to their craft. No, the best artists are students who doodle in the margins of their notebooks during lectures. Does that really make since to you?

And if the people in the media do a good job at fairly reporting the news, then they ought to be justly compensated, just like any other profession. After all, everyone needs to eat, right?
