How's come I didn't hear about this until just now? Dammit Poop Face, it's your job to keep me informed about shit like this. This could be important.

It looks like it only just started airing. Is it cool? Has anyone seen it? Is it cool? It looks cool! The third season of the original series kind of sucked, but that was ten years ago so I'm willing to let bygones be bygones if it's cool.

I'd known about that since early last spring. I was thinking of checking it out, but I generally don't check out any series unless it's almost done. Has it even aired yet?

It aired last thursday. I just watched a subbed version this morning. It seems like they've abandoned the serious angst that dragged down the third season and are concentrating more on the light hearted adventure that made the first and second so successful.

That being said, the colors are super flat(DAMN YOU COMPUTER COLORED ANIMATION), the animation wasn't great, and its apparent that a very modest budget is involved here. It's certainly too early to tell if this is going to be great or completely unremarkable but hell I'm just glad to have them back.

PS. I hate that retarded CG dragon slave. The hand drawn animated one looked fantastic back in the day like some crazy beam ray. Now it's just a big cg balloon that looks like it belongs in Journey of Dreams.

You never know, even Slayers Try's first four episodes were pretty lighthearted fun before it went into stupid melodrama.

Well, it's not like the original series had a particularly large budget behind it. It actually looks alot better to me - granted, all I've seen is that one clip on the website, but the colors look plenty vibrant to me and it sure for all the world has the exact same 90's art style, which would've been my main worry.

To be frank, I downright despise Studio Zombie's/ Tommy Ohtsuka's character design. Most of the OVAs and movies looked better than this, even the second and third seasons looked more appealing. In fact, the only relatively recent Slayers production I was able to enjoy was that Suiryuu-ou no Kishi manga, and it sure wasn't thanks to the character design. I want Araizumi back at the wheel, 100%.

But other than that, I hope this one will be just as awesome as Next.

If I knew people here liked this series, I would have indicated this site much earlier. Primarly as a reference, since some of you'd rather read it raw.
By the way, do you know what series SHOULD come back? The Violinist of Hamelin (aka Hamelin no Violin Hiki). With the manga supposely getting a sequel, a new animated series would be the reasonable thing to do. And it should be based on the manga/movie, instead of the overly-tragic old anime.

Oh yeah, I remember it. Only saw the first episode, and previous to that I read just the first manga chapter. I remember thinking "there's no way these two products are somehow related to each other, for serious".
Maybe the producers of the anime thought it would be too similar to Slayers, and then opted for a far more dramatical, almost opposite, approach to the same story?

Who knows? Maybe it has something to do with being published by Enix/Gangan Comics - both versions of Fullmetal Alchemist (from the same magazine) are way different from each other, too. But even then, just in terms of plot.

So what's new with this? It must be 2 or 3 episodes in by now. Is anyone watching? Is it awesome? It looks awesome! Somebody tell me something! I can't be the only one here who thinks this is freaking huge.

I'll watch it when the first 13 episodes are done. That's usually how Slayers works, right? Each season is divided into two arcs.

Also, I don't particularly find this a huge deal... it's true I did love Slayers back in the day and it was probably one of the first animes I've watched. I used to download anime a lot but have lightened up on that a bit. I think all that anime watching made me not be excited about this as I could have, while for you, I bet you haven't watched an anime series in like 5 years. Me, I've only been keeping track of only one anime lately and I've been falling behind in watching that!

Then again, I did just watch every single theatrically released Disney animated during the first half of this year so that might explain why I haven't downloaded any new anime in like 4 months. BTW the worst Disney Animated Feature ever made was either Saludos Amigos or The Black Cauldron.

Now I've never seen Saludos Amigos, but Three Caballeros is awesome.

But now don't go changing the subject this early in the thread. Dude, what if we finally get to see Lina's fabled sister?!

If Luna Inverse actually appears in some main role I think I'd feel betrayed. I bet she's still in the intro sequence, but the truth is I want Naga to have a cameo or two. I would rather have Luna retain her mystique, but with Naga I keep wondering why they went their separate ways, so I'd prefer her occasional cameo. I guess I'd like something similar like what happened in Slayers Premium to happen occasionally while dropping clues between why they separated all the while Lina and Naga will never meet during the series run again. Of course that's probably just wishful thinking and we'll never learn anything new once this season is over.

Anyway, I bet you can't wait for Gourry to dress like a girl again.

By the way sorry for such a serious answer to a rhetorical question. Sometimes I can't help it.

Also, I bet you liked The Three Caballeros because it was the horniest Disney movie they ever made.

So why aren't you playing video games for a year?

I have a bad habit of prioritizing my pleasures before my business so I need to fix that, so I'm more likely to resume and finish a videogame I started than do what I need to be doing. If I get a job I'm happy with instead of a job that makes me want to kill myself every time I wake up and start the car I'll probably play videogames sooner, but if I don't stop playing videogames for a while then I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up like a stereotypical 30 year older still living in their parent's basement (except we have no basement).

Actually, is it okay if you delete your question and my post? I'm pretty sure no one cares about my drama and it's steering this topic badly.

Im watching it. No prince phil yet. So far episodes have taken place in another kingdom, which is out of Phil's jurisdiction unfortunately. The new character Pokata(?) is alright. He's got Klonoa ear/arms and it has been alluded to that he is somehow trapped in this cuddly form. There's really not much else to say as of yet. It really feels JUST like classic slayers. No sign of Valgaav yet.

I've never downloaded a (non-porn) anime in my life, but I want to see this sooooo bad. I think I'm gonna do it.

I finally finished watching Slayers Revolution. It certainly feels like Slayers alright. I love Wizer Flayon, who's like the season's Zangulus/Martina, but I dislike Pokota, the season's Filia. It still makes me laugh with its retained familiar humor, and I'd rate it above the first season but below the second season (I don't really like Revolution's villain mastermind). There's a lot of Slayers mythos being thrown around and many nostalgic and surprising references to the previous seasons, so I hope you've got a good memory. I've also watched the first episode of the next season of Slayers, Slayers Evolution-R, and wow, I never expected the series to finally delve into that certain subject OHOHOHOHOHOHO, and I'm sure any Slayers fan would squeal with delight by that first episode's end. It seems like Revolution and Evolution-R are like the first half and the second half of how the previous Slayers seasons were, because the overarching storyline from Revolution hasn't been tied up yet.

Here's hoping Slayers Evolution-R really is an evolution. I mean, sure, Pokota's still around (blegh) but his quest isn't over yet, and he's one of those characters where once his story ends he'll no longer have a reason to tag along Lina like Filia did, I guess.

So, I'm in Japan and I've got a TV. I assume there must be a way to watch this.

Last time I checked they already premiered the follow-up Evolution-R, try finding a way to watch AT-X. Otherwise, TV Tokyo and TV Ōsaka are airing the first season wednesdays at... uh, 25:20?
