I could break her over my knee.

I honestly don't pay that much attention to what you people post anymore, so this may be hanging around here somewhere already. But I'm a mod and I can do what I want, so I'm posting it anyway.
Kristin Kreuk as Chun Li from SF movie

THAT'S supposed to be Chun Li? Really? I know it's going to be a crappy movie anyway, but honestly.

Huge ass version.

What's next, Scharzenegger for Dhalsim?

Maybe... maybe she'll look better in costume?

Wouldn't it have just been easier to cast, I dunno, an Asian actress to play an Asian woman? That's not too racist, is it? I know they exist, and some even really know chopsocky!

How is her name going to be pronounced? Is it going to be the proper "choon-li" or the sloppy American "chuhn-li"?

Hey, Asian people can't star in movies set in Asia by Asian creators! Just look at Dragon Ball the movie!

Kreuk's mom is Chinese (ethnically). Her dad is Dutch, though, which is why she doesn't look especially Chinese herself.

On the other hand, Chun Li doesn't really look especially Chinese either, does she?

Yeah, she does. It appears to vary from game to game.

I dunno... I just hit up google images and mostly just found a lot of brown-haired, white-skinned Chun Li's. (And a loooott of porn, wow.) Some of the cosplayers look Asian, though.

Of course in most anime, all asian people look like white people, and all white people look like white people with giant chins.

To be fair, the last SF live action movie had a Chinese Chun-Li.

I'm not sure any future rendition can possibly top said movie. I mean, look at these speeches!

Edit: And this ending!

Any word on weather or not they will cast male asians for the Ryu and/or any other male asian characters?

There's a partial cast list here.
Your new pal Aaron here, comin’ to ya live from location in Bangkok, Thailand where all the action (and believe me we’ve had plenty of it) has been goin’ down every day.
That shows just how awesomely badass* this movie is going to be.

*sarcasm

She's doesn't look Asian, or anything like ChunLi, but in her defense, acting like someone she isn't is actually part of her job description. There's really no point in saying she doesn't resemble ChunLi in a picture of her portraying some other character.

Hilary Swank has a vagina, but she won an Oscar pretending she has a dick. That’s what actors do. They pretend. </Ari Gold>

I didn't know acting ability could change one's genetic and ethnic make-up, but NOW I DO! AND KNOWING IS HALF THE BATTLE!

Zeta, they'd only be pretending to be a different race.

I guess I just found my favourite Chun Li pic ever.
Chun Li costumes should be more popular over here. I think I've only seen one in my entire life. It was a prety good one though.

Street Fighter movies will never be good. There's practically no story there to work on. No story we care at least.

Are we sure this movie preview pic isn't just...y'know, meant to be Chun-Li before she gets her iconic "accentuates the boob/ass areas" outfit?

(It's what I'M hoping for, at any rate...)

Isn't it チュンリー, Choon-Li?

Also, Kreuk kinda looks like her, it would be on everyone's best interests to make her trot and lift some weights to build up her body and muscles, that's all.

Absolutely not, they'll only ever be varying degrees of bad. The question is what kind of bad? The 3am-it's on cable so I might as well watch it-I'm with friends and not very sober so we'll most likely laugh at its horrendous acting, bad special effects, and poor storyline only to quote from its cheesy dialog tomorrow morning bad? Or the this is just a boring, forgettable, half-hearted attempt to cash in on a franchise and it has no redeeming qualities outside of its semi-hot actresses bad? That's what it's really all about.

EDIT: This doesn't include the SFII animated movie, which I thought was good.

Yes she does!

Well, except for the thighs.

I'm sure they could add that in with CG.

This would be my main concern when looking for an actress to play Chun Li. (I'm not joking either unfortunately.)

This topic reminds me of when the Japanese were upset that a Chinese actress was playing the lead role in Memoirs of a Geisha.
