Fucking miserable bastarding day
So I'm enjoying a cup of tea and reading the papers today on my lunch break at work, comfortable that it is very much past noontime and thus I can enjoy my day in peace, without being hounded by the relentless horde of grinning muppets who think it's hilarious to swap the salt and sugar shakers around.
I stare in disbelief at one of the highlights. The Clock Tower in Westminster, London (also known as Big Ben to casual idiots who don't realise that it's only the name of the bell inside) has been undergoing renovation, during which we all have to make do with a replacement bloody huge digimal display, not unlike that of your clock radio.
I was baffled. I'd seen jokes made in cartoons and suchlike, but had they really the balls to do something so radical, so...futuristic? Was the Clock Tower finally and begrudgingly shuffling into the 21st century and "getting with the times"? Is this a grim portent of events to come, bolstered by humanity's reluctance to spend time or effort on any endeavour, even as trivial as telling the time?
No of course it fucking isn't. It's April cunting arsehole Fool's buggering Day. Even the news sheets are in on it, regardless of the fact that they can be read after noon, negating any pranks played! So I staggered around overcome with my own incredulity, while my peers no doubt sniggered under their breath. It was only when my dear mum questioned the facts did I realise what a fool (ho-ho! a merry jest indeed!) I had been.
Utterly embarassing. I felt like eating my own face. What an obnoxious prick of a day.
I trust yours were tolerable?

We had strobe lights mounted over every square foot of the Statue of Liberty last year.

Here's what I've found:
- Blizzard has unveiled the Bard, their next hero class. They are also returning to consoles.
- The WoW forums have kekeke, I lold irl, lulz, roflmao, etc. inserted into everyone's posts.
- GameSpot has some fake headlines (some of which are awesome -- Good Touch Bad Touch for Nintendo DS...? o.0)
- StepMania 150 to introduce 150-player simulations play, requiring a 4000 x 2000 display.
- New Xbox Peripherals
- Every featured video on YouTube's front page is a Rickroll.

I spent the day cleaning bird cages and clearing out my room so it can be painted this weekend. For some reason, everyone in my family was in a bad mood today.(myself included) Thus, no jokes were played. Well at least I was productive on this fine holiday.

You forgot about IGNorant's "Legend of Zelda" movie trailer.
Also, my website acted like I was banned, and became a communist state. It was epic.

I'm pretty sure that whole "No pranks after noon" thing is not a "real" April Fools Day rule. I always assumed it was something the schools made up to stop kids from pulling pranks all day long.

I wish that xbox 360 helmet was not a april fools joke. I would look so bad ass in that helmet. I'd be even cooler if I had a power glove to go with it.

I have Never Gonna Give You Up stuck in my head, though I guess it really isn't that bad since I don't really dislike the song, but...

No one 'got' me today. I didn't fall for anything. I wasn't tricked, fooled, humiliated, pantsed, or ejaculated upon.
This year sucked.

I've never heard this rule until just now.Esrever wrote:I'm pretty sure that whole "No pranks after noon" thing is not a "real" April Fools Day rule. I always assumed it was something the schools made up to stop kids from pulling pranks all day long.
I played a trick on myself by thinking that April Fool's Day was on Monday this week. Otherwise it was quiet, unfortunately.

Yeah, same here. I'll be adding that shit to my karaoke list for tomorrow night. My rendition of various 80's hits lights up The Grapes like a Christmas tree, every week. Free entry! Doors open at 8pm. No under 18's permitted.Ngangbius wrote:I have Never Gonna Give You Up stuck in my head, though I guess it really isn't that bad since I don't really dislike the song, but...

Re: Fucking miserable bastarding day
I had to drive my parents to the airport yesterday. As I was picking them up, I happened to discover an article they had printed out, stating that the US will be adopting the Euro due to the dollar being worthless. I proceeded to shit bricks.
My dad later realised it was an April's Fool prank just before I left him at the airport. I hope he'll be alright.
Edit: Also that WoW Bard is an awesome idea, and should see implementation.
In a better game.

Court Records, an Ace Attorney fan super-site, removed all content pertaining to the first three games. I hope they archived that; some of the flippant "We don't care about 'ol spike-head anymore" comments were golden.
Oh, and Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series decided to make an entire series dedicated to fan-dubbing a Show Within A Show, Zorc and Pals.

I thought the same exact thing. "Wow blizzard came up with an original concept! Oh wait, this has to be an April fools..."One Classy Bloke wrote:Also that WoW Bard is an awesome idea, and should see implementation.

Playing the sang songs over and over in guitar hero/rockband for no reason but to say "I played the song" is lame compared to playing the song and making things explode.
Explosions make EVERYTHING better.

Re: Fucking miserable bastarding day
Back before WoW was even out they did an April Fool's where they announced the two-headed ogre as a playable hoard class that had to be played by two seperate people. It sounded awesome--both players control him at the same time, though each half has slightly different abilities, and in order to utilize it at full strength both players had to be playing at the same time (otherwise one head would appear "asleep" while the other did all the work). I feel rather strongly that they should have made it for real.

The bard idea was used in FF first, right?

I never would have been able to play that race, the other person would hate me because I'd make them do all the work.G.Silver wrote:Back before WoW was even out they did an April Fool's where they announced the two-headed ogre as a playable hoard class that had to be played by two seperate people. And about bard being in FF first,
MMO-wise, yes it was (I played one in FFXI), but other than that, no.

I'm pretty sure there the bard idea had been used in the real world even before D&D.

Yeah, like how there were actually bards. In real life. Actually.
