Some 3D Sonic game

Has anyone here seen this? I haven't downloaded it yet, but seems to be a 3D fan game that mimics almost perfectly the physics from the original games. Apart from a few camera glitches, this is almost exactely what I wanted a 3D Sonic game to be. Plus, this has to be one of the prettiest models I've ever seen, right after Gisele Bündchen.

I think it's amazing how Sonic Adventure was the only 3d game that was able to make Sonic curl like a perfect ball when he jumps, as it should always be.

Yeah, we covered this before. In some thread. Yeah.

I'm pretty sure any of the other 3D Sonic games could have made Sonic ball up into a sphere, but they chose not to. In Sonic Adventure I think they actually use a separate model (or a vertex morph) for Sonic's spinning state, and they swap it out with images of a real "sphere" to add to the ball-like effect (the 2D games do the same thing). What the other games do is ball Sonic's main model up as much as physically possible, I guess they were going for realism?

Yeah. I must've paused in every game to take a look at Sonic's jump frame by frame. I'm just saying that they should've kept the way it was in SA1. I figured that in the other games it was a matter of choice, but it was a poor choice to make. I remember playing the SA2 demo disc and being very pissed about how they screwed up his jump, and his dash with that stupid somersault.

Oh hey, it's my YouTube account! Cool.

Yeah, Dami also let me in on a few extra levels which I'm not entirely sure if I'm allowed to share. Instead, let me say that by watching Blaze's video here, you're getting the gist of it.

That engine needs moar Image .

Also, the Sonic Adventure 2 model for Sonic's and Shadow's jump isn't that bad, the only problem is that SEGA sticked with it.

Ho ho! Nice level. Very pretty.

Nah. The SA1 jump was perfect. There was no need to change that. At least Sonic had that bouncing move, similar to the water barrier, where he changed into a perfect ball.

The loop sequences look kind of iffy. Has it ever occured to anyone that loops are scripted nowadays because it might be nearly impossible to go through one on your own in 3-D?

I played the demo and had a hell of a good time running through the loops. It took about a minute to get used to the concept of continuing control in a 3D loop, but once I had a firm grasp on it playing around with the physics became a lot more fun.

Edit: oh, hey, I watched the second video. That's, um, pretty awesome.

That's silly. What's stopping people from making the loops wider, or putting guard rails at the edges, Neverball style?

Sonic R attempted the loops without cheating. I'm surprised they didn't go in a similar direction with the proper 3D Sonic games.

You can still dash in SA2. You just hold down the B button, rather than tapping it as you would to preform the somersault.

I think i'm the only one who liked Sonic's SA2 jump over the SA1 jump. Sonic looked too round and big when he jumped in SA1, and none of his spikes sticked out (isnt that how he defeats enemies? By hitting them with his jagged spikes?)

As for the video, meh. Whoever designed it should've included the old-school 'legs forming a wheel' when Sonic runs fast enough.

I am pretty sure that is the least important thing about the video.

Yes. It's sad, but the internal logic of the series took a heavy beating way back with the introduction of Tails.

Oh god, I almost cried. Classic Sonic in Super Mario Sunshine stages, DO FUCKING WANT
Sunshine > 64 > Galaxy

When I played through Sunshine I always wanted to run around on those hills in the background.
