The Joker is dead.

Heath Ledger was found dead in a NY apartment. He was working on The Dark Knight as the Joker.
This is so bizarre. After all the buzz, the "I believe in Harvey Dent, too" ... it's really a shock. Where will they go from here? RIP, anyway.

All the filming for the Dark Knight film was already completed, so the only impact this is going to have on the film is probably making it really depressing for all the people doing the post production.

The worst part about all this is that there are probably ten Keanu Reeves' out there to take his place.

From what I've heard, this was going to be the only Begins-saga flick to feature the Joker anyway. And like Esrever said, the Dark Knight is finished filming. So, just to make sure everyone's clear, the Batman films will be uncompromised by all this.
Shame, though, the dude was only 28.

Well, I'm relieved to hear that the filming is done. The event is still mind-boggling, though. I suppose it's what it would feel like if Mark Hamill died immediately after filming Return of the Jedi.
Or if Mako died before they made a Samurai Jack movie.

But there are rumours that the Jocker could repeat in another movie, say Begins 3 or say Superman vs Batman

Given the darker, slicker, less cheesy direction both new sets of movies have taken, I wouldn't really want to see them do something as cheeseball as a crossover.

I was only joking. Are you a Keanu fan or something?

It really is sad, he has a two-year old daughter and had a really bad childhood with his parents splitting.
It seemed like things were going right for him, with his fiancee and kid and then this happens.
I never met him, but he seemed like a really nice guy from all the news reports.
RIP Heath.

Heath was a cool guy and he always picked interesting roles for himself. You look at his filmography up to now and just know he would have done some pretty cool and bizarre stuff over the course of his career if he'd lived longer. I wonder what will happen to the movie he was currently filming with Terry Gilliam directing...
The writer and director of Batman Begins have said in the past that they thought killing the Joker in the original Batman film was a mistake. They wanted to keep him alive and potentially use him in the third movie as the catalyst for splashing acid on Harvey's face in court.
Still, that was pretty early talk... who knows what they actually wound up deciding to do in the end.

all I can say is "Oh shit"
*The theme from the thirteen episode of The Venture Bros begins to play ("Look Away", written and performed by Nick Demayo, and recorded by John Holzinger at Clay Castle Sound & Recording”)

The weirdest thing about this is that he was in one of Mary-Kate Olsen's apartments.
