Come gather around me. Space travelers surround me.
Hark now to the ballad of Rocket Robin Hood.
I may well confound you, astound you, spellbound you,
with heroes and villains, the bad and the good.
Watch now as our rockets race here from afar.
For now, with our Robin, we live on a star."
"Three. Two. One. Blast off!
So, who here remembers Rocket Robin Hood? A show produced by the same team that brought us the 60's Spider-Man cartoon with a budget so low that each episode consisted of about fifteen minutes of actual content with the theme song being played over and over again between commercial segments to pad out the time, and fight scenes consisted of about five different pieces of animation being used over and over again. I mean, most people live on the assumption that Robin Hood and space are two concepts that could never possibly work together, but you have to hand it to the Canadian studio who produced this show for going out of their way to prove that we were all right.
Teletoon has been airing the show every fucking night for the past month or so. Its addictive nature has completely overtaken all respectable taste and common sense I possess. It sucks, but for the love of God, I can't stop watching it!

Rocket Robin Hood is nothing! Who remembers Bravestar? Now that was some crazy fucking shit. An indian cowboy - IN SPACE. And he rode on a robot horse, that TURNED into a damn human who helped him shoot the the bad guys.
Not only was it INSANE - it was also racially offensive.
Rocket Robin Hood can't top that.

No seriously...If you have a decently fast computer I'd recommend Call of Duty or Freelancer. Both are a good way to kill a rainy afternoon. If you're looking for something on the arcade front then go check out Sega Rossu's version 3 of Initial D. It's been completely revamped and looks puuurrrddddy. (Or you can be a complete dork like I am and import it for Playstation 2)
Console: uh...uh....erm....well Champions of Norrath isn't bad. But I got that strictly because it had Everquest involvement. And I was Sony Online Entertainment's supreme whore for awhile. I'm over it now, but I do miss the community of people I used to interact with.
That's the real hard part of giving it up. It's alot like this forum, only the chicks you hit on had fully pixellated breasts and you could /gaze at them all day.
:D:D:D::D:D:D:D: those were happier times.

CoD is very good. It's no Doom III or Quake but it's a very satisfying gaming experience, and it has a uniqueness just like them that makes it very rewarding to play. Also, some parts of it are just very amusing to be apart of. And I like the aspect of it where you play as all the major Allies and not just the Americans (who try to hog the glory for everything). So Call of Duty is good? I have a copy that I got for free sitting right next to me that I never bothered to install. I heard good things, but I am very lazy and can't fucking stand playing games with a keyboard.
There's a strange part in the Russian campaign where they're handing a rifle to one guy, a clip to the other. And you get in line and you're begging that a rifle falls in your hand. But before that you're on a boat and crossing the river, planes strafing everything around you. The officer on deck telling you all that anyone who runs is a traitor and will be shot. Then the boat is hit. Guys freak out, people jump over the side.
It's so historically correct at parts it's scary. And it's the first FPS games where I had to learn how to dance to avoid bullets cuz I was stuck without a rifle for two levels :P But they pulled it off very well.
But where the game really shines is in multiplayer. It's got a variety of modes (all the classics like Team Deathmatch, Deathmach, CTF, etc.) but one of my personal favorites is a game called "Headquarters" And it's a team game (the game's multiplayer seems to be mostly setup like this) And it's always the Americans, British, or Russian against the Germans. The object is to set up a radio on particular points on the map. The radio will spawn whenever a timelimit exceeds 4 minutes for a team holding it that long or the other team destroys it by holding the radio's position for more than 10 seconds. Once the radio spawns a member of either team can set up their headquarters with it and then said team defends the attacking team who tries to knock out the radio. Points are earned for holding the radio every minute and for blowing up the radio. So if your team doesn't work together you're sure to lose.
Seek and Destroy is also alot of fun. Which involves a Counterstrike type of quality to the game where you try to blow something up depending on the map and which team you're on. This is fun, but it doesn't have the carnage that Headquarters has. And the no respawn can get tedious if you're not as quick a shot as others. And where I live, there are guys that breath this game :P
Also did I mention I had a deep interest in the World War II era historically? Particularly the technological advances of that time. It's so much more satisfying to plug someone with a bolt-action rifle than a grenade launcher anymore I dont' know if I can ever go back. And it's the first game to ever make a good "iron-sight" sort of way of shooting your gun actually work well. Delta Force tried and failed at this. And the Kar98 might as well be a cannon if it hits your head, cuz there's nothing to ship home after that.
But CoD is easily up there with some of my more preferred FPS games, and does me the huge favor of knocking down the Medal of Honor games who try to represent both "good" and "geniune" WWII era games. Which they do not. At all.
Anyway, I'd write more about CoD on here but I'm just going to be late for work.

It's funny that you put it that way, because that's how the Stalingrad missions felt to me. I was just one big walking bullet sponge. And if you didn't advance the officers in the rear would shoot you for bieng a traitor. It was lose lose. So I jumped into a fountain and found my sniper buddy. Then I'd have to run back and forth to draw fire for him. It was fun! :D
Also, the movie "Enemy at the Gates" sucked royally, but there actually was a sniper that spectacular in the Russian army. And they did call in a specialist from Berlin to deal with him. Both sides had an impromptu ceasefire in Stalingrad while the two spend nearly a week looking for each other. And you actually are that character in the game. I think all the characters you "represent" in the game were actual people involved with special operations in World War II. I've seen at least 5 I recognize. Particularly those British special ops guys. Those guys could drink gasoline and then have the balls to light up a smoke. I felt sorry for the Germans that day =(=(=(=(
And dammit I wish I could remember both Snipers' names. I'll look them up later if anyone really cares to know lol.

You can watch an episode of the show above. It's like all my nightmares made into badly-animated reality.
Sherwood Asteroid? Sheriff of N.O.T.T.? Fucking blasphemy. >.<

I don't remember anything to that effect, but alot of my focus was on the Eastern continents involved in the war. France in particular. Stalingrad only caught my eye before COD with the story of that Russian sniper kid I still haven't looked up lol. Just play COD, you'll get his name there. Or watch Enemy at the Gates *shudder*
However Stalin was the one that said, "In the Soviet army it takes more courage to retreat than advance." Or something like that. But that gives you some idea of how bad it was for the Soviet troops. Stalingrad was right under the Bludge in terms of casualities and carnage.
Of course Stalin turned out to be suffering from some strange disease and he wound up to we worse than Hitler, but that's the fad with communist fascist totalitarian dictators.
Hrmm...I wonder what rare disease Bush suffers from.
