Rocket Knight Adventures

Post by G.Silver »

I didn't know what else to do with this thing. Neil and I were talking today and I mentioned an ad for Rocket Knight Adventures from Japan that was animated I'd seen in Gamefan Magazine back in the day, and so, I mean, I'd been sitting on this thing forever so I finally scanned it and uploaded it to the internet. So, I was thinking there must be a kind of Rocket Knight fan site where I could send it (like that Ristar Cluster site), but I figure eh, the GHZ is just as good and maybe someone knows something.

Yeah, that's Tails' foot up there.

Also, I am sure once I saw an ad on TV for it here in the states but only one person I've ever talked to claimed to have seen it (Mixing era Sega flavor with the pig theme of the first game, it featured a creepy Granny-type saying "I love the smell of bacon in the morning"), and I also seem to remember seeing some of this animation sequence, but it was so fast and a blur even then, I'm not sure I really saw it.

It would be cool to see it.

Aww Silv, you break my heart. Just when I almost forgot that crappy Int. Track & Field promo...

And there's nothing about that ad anywhere. Great find!

EDIT: Ha, ballistic. And this one's the only fan site Google'll throw at me.

Wasn't it me you were telling about this? Or have you just been telling anyone who will sit still long enough?

How charming, it's got embedded midis and anigifs and everything!

Awesome finds, you guys. And yeah, don't you hate it when you see something, and you're the only person in the entire world who's seen it? Like, years ago, I stumbled across an ad for this game called Eastern Mine in some sort of PC magazine- it gave me nightmares for years on end, but when I finally mustered the guts to Google it, there wasn't a single mention of it anywhere on the internet. Even the crusty old DOS game communities had no idea what I was talking about. It's as if the game never existed, which just makes the whole ordeal seem all the more frightening to me. Just thought I'd share.

Those are from Nintendo Power's coverage of the SNES version, back in the day they'd usually have what I assume was a staff artist or somebody do a bit of art to accompany their walkthroughs and stuff, and the art usually ranged in quality pretty sharply. But Sparkster had wings in the shooter section of the SNES game.

Yeah but somehow Neil got the scan out of me. I feel like a whore James, a whore!
