Sonic Yearbook contains revealing interview/lies

Post by Locit »

UK:RESISTANCE posted scans of a Sonic themed yearbook containing a number of Sonic-themed... things recently. The book includes a number of badly drawn comics and a tell-all interview with Sonic himself done by none other than famous muckraking journalist, Scoop Tomlinson. An excerpt:
“F-forgive my nervousness,â€￾ I stammered. “I’ve never interviewed a hero before…â€￾ Sonic frowned. I didn’t like the look of that frown!
“I’m not a hero. I’m a SUPERhero! It’s something that just happened to me. I didn’t want to be great. I just am.â€￾
It goes on for three pages. Nearly everything contained within is worth a look, though it's so hilariously awful you'll probably have to take breaks like I did just to make it through.

Shit, I have this book. The first comic was illustrated by the great Richard Elson at the top of his game, before all that Sonic 3D rendered shite. The rest of the annual is pretty poor, though.

It's weird, faux interviews with the blue fellow always seemed a dead cert in these sorts of things. Case in point; Stay Sonic, a similarly well-meaning but ill-conceived collection of trivia, dodgy origin stories and game guides, with obligatory clever anagram Aseg Eporue (don't try too hard) "getting the dirt" on the hero in a plush hotel-room setting. I coloured the pictures in to make it interesting.

I too have this book, or at least used to as a kid; I also had the equivelent one they released the year afterwards. And I had Stay Sonic, too, and what's more, I coloured in the pictures as well. Twins in a secret life, J-Man?

Also, holy shit, you're right-- that is Richard Elson in the first comic. I still have a lot of respect for that guy. He kind of taught me to draw. Or at least to draw Sonic.

God, I should hope not.

Okay, admittedly the parallels are astounding - even the point about Richard Elson being an artistic inspiration. I'm just worried about what OTP stands for.

Oh, The Potential?

And there's nothing more beautiful than the pure, sincere relationship of two British gentlemen. Please, proceed.

One True Pairing.

Zeta's hankering for some British shipping, apparently.

I wouldn't really call either of them "gentlemen".
