Shadow and Riders reach 'Greatest Hits' status

Post by cjmcray »

Shadow the Hedgehog (Ps2/GameCube editions) and Sonic Riders (Ps2 edition) have now become part of the 'Greatest Hits' lineup, meaning they have sold over 1 million copies.

This is old news and seeing that this came from insertcredit, for them it is also sad news. XD

Greatest Hits does not neccessarily mean that they sold over a million copies. Shadow of the Colossus is part of the Greatest Hits line and I doubt it moved over 500K units.

Highest reptation and most reviewed. It's how God of War, GTA, and every other Greatest Hit ends up becomming $20 dollars.

Wikipedia wrote:When the program came to PlayStation 2 in 2002, games could become GH titles after selling at least 400,000 copies and being on the market for at least 9 months. Suggested retail prices of GH titles at first were dropped to $24.99, but they now typically retail for $19.99. Third-party publishers, however, can set their own GH prices and are not required to make their games GH titles after passing the minimums. Games that are multi-million sellers may become GH titles much later than 9 months to maximize profits.
Taken from an old official press release. So they dropped the prices for one of two possible reasons: 1) They are multi-million sellers that still manage to garner everyone's attention and make them awe with their perfection, or 2) SEGA wants a penny out of two dead products that stopped selling some time ago, therefore release them dirt cheap.
Gotta go for the first!

Actually this picture was from a "news" entry (months ago) about finding an unexpected Sonic game display in a mall's Sanrio shop. I think they said it was the only blue-colored thing in the whole store.

And I could swear they don't go exclusively downhill.

I think "Hits" is probably pretty accurate.

I thought Greatest Hits games only required 150,000 copies to be sold?

Are we talking about air boards or the game quality?
