Drop the Hero
I'm just about finished the Sonic Heroes page, there are just a couple of things I need first. I don't have all of the move names or enemy names. I assume this information could be found in a Japanese strategy guide, but I don't even know if such a thing exists. If anyone can help with that, it would be grandly appreciated.
Also, Bo, I'm missing screenshots of Robot Carnival and the Special Stage. Is it too late to ask for those? I just need one of the former and two of the latter.
Finally, has anyone here actually accessed Super Hard mode? What's different about it?

Re: Drop the Hero
I have not (not actually owning the game) but here's a quick description, from a Super Hard Mode FAQ.Green Gibbon! wrote: Finally, has anyone here actually accessed Super Hard mode? What's different about it?
-WHAT SUPER HARD MODE IS-
Now to explain what the heck Super Hard Mode actually is. You
play through the 14 main levels of the game as Team Sonic, in
which you encounter areas and challenges that appeared in all
four of the team's stories. The levels are mostly combinations
of the Team Sonic and Team Dark levels, but there is a little
amount of Team Chaotix thrown in as well. There are no bosses,
no emblems, no rankings, and no emeralds involved. There are
suprisingly enough, no continues, either. If you lose all of
your lives, you have to start back over at Seaside Hill again
(ouch).

Another question: in the options menu, there's an option to toggle the anti-flicker on or off. I know there are several GameCube games that have this feature, and I'm on the GC version of Sonic Heroes, so I'm wondering if the other two versions have this feature? Or is it something in the Cube hardware?
Also, I've done heard tell that the PS2 and Xbox versions allow you to toggle the spoken dialogue between Japanese and English, though you actually have to change the language settings in the hardware to do this? Is all that right?

Japanese
I have the Xbox version and you can change the console's setting to Japanese. This displays Japanese text and plays Japanese VAs.
From what I've been told, the PS2 has this as an in game menu option allowing you to mix and match languages like in the Adventure series.

No, there aren't any in-game language menus for the Xbox version.

I've also got to Super Hard mode. There are usually a lot more enemies etc, it's basically another recreation of the levels, and require a better grasp of how to move the characters. For instance, Casino Park has a lot more of those bouncing bumpers which you have to home-attack one by one to reach a long trail of rings.

--Egg Pawn Series--
The most common enemy in the game. They mostly appear in groups and come in many different types, some unarmed, some with guns, some with shields. Different tactics are required to destroy each variant. (All Stages)
Egg Pawn
Gun Pawn
Lance Pawn
Shield Pawn
Soilid Pawn
Egg Knight-- Stronger and golden version of the Egg Pawn. He leads a group of normal Egg Pawns, so if you destroy him, the others will be out of your hair as well.
Casino Bunny-- Aside from their appearance, they are identical to a normal Egg Pawn. (Casino Park/BINGO Highway)
Casino Clown-- Aside from their appearance, they are identical to a normal Egg Pawn. (Casino Park/BINGO Highway)
Casino Managers-- Aside from their appearance, they are identical to a normal Egg Pawn. (Casino Park/BINGO Highway)
--Flapper Series--
A flight-type robot with a similar model to the Egg Pawn, and also has many variations. Fly characters are best at disposing these guys.
Flapper-- Most basic type. They are unarmed and merely hover in the air.
Gun Flapper-- A Flapper with a gun attached.
Laser Flapper-- These Flappers shoot down lighting beams.
Bomb Flapper--These Flappers drop bombs.
Solid Flapper-- Flappers with strong, silver armour. These must first be brought down by Thunder Shoot, and then use your Power character to finish them off.
Search Flapper-- A Flapper with a spotlight attached. If you are detected by the spotlight, more enemies will be called.
Needle Flapper-- These Flappers bear spikes. You must attack them when they briefly withdraw the spikes.
--Rhino Series--
Rhino Liner-- Rhinoceros-type enemy, capable of dashing at high speed. Is usually found on rails.
--Falco Series--
Falco-- Hawk-type robot, used somewhat like a fighter plane. Travels at high speed, so is somewhat hard to hit. The Egg Hawk is based on this robot model.
--Klagen Series--
Jellyfish-type robot capable of capturing Sonic and friends with it’s tractor beam. If one of your team-mates is captured, you’ll need to destroy Klagen to rescue him/her.
Klagen
Gold Klagen-- Stronger version of Klagen.
--Cameron Series--
Cameron-- A heavy-armoured turtle bot capable of shooting lasers. There are two ways to defeat Cameronâ€â€either use the “Tornadoâ€￾ attack in speed formation to make him fall on his back, or simply use your power character to crack through that strong armour.
Gold Cameron-- Stronger version of Cameron. Can only be destroyed using the Tornado method.
--Egg Bishop Series--
Egg Bishop-- This robot is capable of healing both itself and other robots. If you use the Tornado Attack, he will become the Egg Magician (Hang Castle/Mystic Mansion)
Egg Magician-- Alternate form of the Egg Bishop. He can cast a spell which will steal your rings.
--Egg Hammer Series--
Egg Hammer-- A strong robot wielding a hammer. Only Power characters can cause damage. He is most vunerable after he swings his hammer in a circle.
Heavy Egg Hammer-- This is the Egg Hammer, but with a helmet that protects him from attacks. To remove the helmet, you must first wait until he has fallen after swinging the hammer, and then attack. After that, more damage can be caused by attacking his head.
--E-2000 Series--
E-2000-- These guys shoot large lasers that are hard to avoid. They are also capable of blocking attacks.

Beating Super Hard mode is a horrible disappointment. You get the credits from Last Story, followed by a screen of Team Sonic with Thank You or something posted underneath.
The only thing that was kinda odd was that Team Sonic has a line to say when you get to the spiderweb in Mystic Mansion. Perhaps the spider web was supposed to be accessible to all parties at some point in development since they bothered to record lines for other teams. I doubt they'd bother if it was ONLY going to be heard by the poor suckers who coughed up 141 A's to get Super Hard mode.

Hey Titan, thanks... where'd that info come from?
Sonic: *whistle* A giant spider web!
Knuckles: Hey Sonic, we're not going to-
Sonic: Yes, we are!
Tails: My head is spinning!

There are two official Japanese guides - one by Sega and one by Sonic Team. I should be getting my Sonic Team copy within the next 12 days, so I'll scan and post the relevant information when it arrives.I assume this information could be found in a Japanese strategy guide, but I don't even know if such a thing exists. If anyone can help with that, it would be grandly appreciated.
I completed Shuffle four times (to view all the character's viewpoints). Does anyone know if it is possible to hack Shuffle save files to change the level information for the save point? I'd love to watch the cut-scenes again without having to re-play the game.I didn't finish Sonic Shuffle or access Super Hard mode in Sonic Heroes. I guess I'm going to hell.
I did download a completed save file for Sonic Shuffle, though, and I actually did bother to collect all 120 Emblems in Sonic Heroes. I sure wish I had money to buy new games.

Oh yes. The PS2 version fixes the problem with botomless pits being the most frequent cause of death. Instead, control glitches are by far the most frequent cause of death.aso wrote:I was considering picking up the PS2 version, given that I don't have a Gamcube just yet... is the PS2 port really that bad? It's like, NEVER EVER use Sonic to jump over a chasm. The crappy control will mistake your one harmless push of the button for two evil dangerous pushes of the button which let's you gracefully home attack straight into oblivion.
If you can avoid it, then you must do so. If you have no other console but really want the game, then you must sadly endure like myself.

That must only be the European one. I've got the US one and it's one of the most carelessly schlocked together strategy guides I've ever seen. Either it must've been written in exactly two days or the author was paid about $20 for the whole book. Otherwise, it's inexcusably bad, and the enemy information you posted is nowhere to be found in it.The Prima guide
